This song is perfectly composed. The lyrics actually reminds me of Mr. Brightside by Killers. The girl is head over heels with a man who makes her feel insecure with the fear that he might be cheating. The growl like synth noise expresses frustration and emotional turmoil, Bass and rhythm guitar expresses anger. Saiki's vocal is full of desperation, fears and pains. Next, and her pent-up emotions explode as Kanami's solo kicks in - but in the end she just succumbs to her feeling and can't deny that she can't get him out of her head.

I just love that Mincho's threatening riff underlining Saiki's singing. As always, so many details to be enjoyed about their compositions, these women are writing history!

Such a cool song ! Saiki is such a gifted singer. Her voice is beautiful, powerful, yet has a rich sultry quality. In many songs, the maids are producing a heavy wall of sound, yet Saiki’s voice powers through. My only complaint is that this wonderful song is far too short.

I get psychogenic shivers with nearly every Band-Maid song. It’s like a music-drug they fiendishly inject into their music to keep you addicted… in a good way, of course. The first couple that come to mind at this moment are: Matchless Gum - the classical-like passage with that hunting chorus pedal and low bass effect just after the solo - especially the last two chords with the counter bass notes. It’s chilling; and second, the way Saiki soulfully attacks the first word “ I “ in the last lines of the official Choose Me MV, “I cannot wait forever…” combined with the raw, tribal drum and funky bass pulls. Pure rock phrasing. She only does it in the official MV. Band-Maid is way better than the rock fan / media attention they seem to get. WHY?

It still seems the Maids and their staff could take matters into their own hands and bring a good English translator to help conduct media interviews with radio / TV performances to drive interest at each new city they go to -- like The Warning just did on their USA tour that helped shoot up their popularity. The Maids (their music, personalities, & story) need to make a SPLASH on their USA tour and get better recognized! Thx, Bob!

I have been long enough in Japan to have some understanding of a society that in spite of being the safest, cleanest and most hospitable country in the world, is suffering from a male-dominated music industry (at times extremely shady) who could not give a f...k about their contracted artists as long as they bring money in the coffers. Each country has an exception... Now, truth be told, do not underestimate Band Maid or Japanese women in general. They are tougher than you think (I am the first to know!). Band Maid are respected among heir peers because they managed the break the shackles of the Japanese music industry. They set an example that many follow. Their first self-maid song was "Alone," the last track on "Brand New Maid" released May 2016. After that, they released "YOLO" in November with two "B" sides, "Matchless GUM" and "Unfair Game." Compare any of those four to anything else they'd done previously and you see a big difference in quality. I absolutely love the main riff, the pre-chorus, the chorus, the break ... these solos by Kanami, particularly the outro solo. I don't care how MANY notes, I care about WHICH notes. Goose flesh for sure.

But you need to check all those hidden gems behind their more popular tunes as they really delve into untold depths, especially when it comes to those solos! Talking of solos, have you reacted on Daydreaming, not live, but official video, a rare case when it is better than the live version! Addenda: fans will have other favorite solos but almost everyone agrees this is her most emotional solo to date in her favorite song she had the most difficulty composing! Take good care of yourself! Wow Kanami, if I could only spend a second in your mind it would feel like an eternity. And Saiki....nuff said. I love the break up in Saiki's vocal in the second verse. Just genius. Every band struggles to pull off every song, every night. Usually they drop the ball somewhere. But BAND-MAID's percentage never ceases to amaze, because stuff happens out in the wild. Strings break, cords short out, drumsticks get dropped, PAs and Rooms sounds bad. But some how every song in their Official LIVE Videos seems to be near perfection! Even that Stutter Effect on Saiki's vocals came off so well it gives me chills every time I hear it! How do you top that? That's why I prefer it to the FanCam garbage. Even Shibuya Line Cube with it's over ambient sound is streets ahead of the best FanCam stuff out there.

I'd like to know who was doing all the vocal screaming on the backing track. Was it one of the Maids? It's there on the album too. As was the vocal breaking up of Saiki. So glad the audio mixer added that into the production. It is a bit different from the part on the original album, so it wasn't on the backing track.

I am not so keen on Matchless Gum. Fortunately there are only a few Band Maid songs in that category for me. Not bad out of a discography approaching and soon will be over a hundred songs 😀 Those figures are not precise but approximate. Glad you enjoyed Matchless Gum. It goes to show how two fans of the same band have their own favourite songs and respect other peoples choices. In previous comments I have made the 'fan boys' can't wait to attack me with their puerile comments because I don't think every song from Band Maid is a work of pure genius and should be worshiped with religious fervor. 😃
