There are several behind the scenes videos where Kanami has stated that she was turning down the gain on her amp, so she didn't overplay the other instruments. She is very conscious of how all of the instruments need to be in the mix, and the Ladies have had their own sound engineer since mid to late 2018 and he is still with them to this day. So they are very consistent in their sound. Unlike some other bands or groups where it's more about the guitarists ego, there is very little ego in Band-Maid. As for their lighting, the Ladies have practiced enough to need minimal light. Again, there are several behind the scene videos of them practicing and blocking their stage movements. It's not quite choreography, but they have certain things they wish to emphasize during certain songs depending on the venue. They have taken long sound checks in order to nail down their blocking. I know in Houston in 2023 I was at the venue around 9 am, and the Ladies were on stage inside rehearsing around 10:30 am when the concert didn't start until after 8:45 pm. I and several others could barely hear them inside, but they spent several hours getting setup and practicing. I think they finally stopped about 4:30 pm so they could get ready for the show. But these Ladies are true professionals and highly skilled and talented.

One of the most unique things about this band IMO is the rhythm guitar and guitarist. Miku started the band with every intention of being the lead singer but her voice didn't quite fit so she brought in a different singer. But now with a reduced role what was she to do. Learn guitar of course. Yep before Band-Maid formed in 2013 she had never played guitar. She is really good now but it took a lot of work and time. Now Kanami the lead guitarist is not only a genius composer but also an incredible audio engineer when it comes to tone and definitely created a monster rhythm guitar sound. She used that old adage "if you can't play good, play loud" and crafted a distortion and volume level for Miku that in the beginning would mask any mistakes but sounded huge. Miku sometimes doesn't get the respect for how far she's come but she is an integral part to the sound, especially now that her playing has really evolved. She creates this relentless chug or wall of noise that is the foundation of songs, that lets the other members play with different rhythms, patterns, solos and fills, all while maintaining a more than steady base.

I will add this to your comments. MIKU is (as stated) the perfect manager. Her attitude toward all the members is fantastic. Here is an example: Japanese Interviewer: Since all five girls are cute, each of them has a different character. Those who want to see idols perform can also enjoy (each character individually). MIKU: NO! Not just for one of them, all of them together! Japanese Interviewer: Kuruppo, you are a pretty good tactician. Clever! You thought of it. You really formed the band you wanted, right? MIKU: It's a Miracle! SAIKI: That's right! This was taken from Part 2 of the TV interview - kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6u6doeKqpJnn6c Part 1 is here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGWzoJmphr6qpJY

Kanami’s ( lead gtr and composer) idol is Carlos Santana. I love how She composes to the whole band. Very unselfish as a guitar player, always add her own playin’ just what serves the song the most. And all the instruments always heard on stage mix. For me..She is the most impressive musician of the 21st Century. Lovin Band-Maid 🔥❤️

One of my favorite BM songs! Great duels. I think the "cookie monster guitar noise" is coming from Miku, the rhythm guitarist. Usually her amp and speaker is on the left side (stage right).

Great react! And re: gain. Yeah Kanami is very big on deference to other performers. And even when there is a part where she's dueling or comboing with someone else, when it is not 'her specific turn', you will see her get to a knee, to make sure she's lower than the other performer. She's such a sweetheart, always worrying about everyone else.

Band-Maid's pigeon-hole is deep and diverse and you said it, there really isn't any bad ones. Just 50 which will via for your favorite and all the rest which are fantastic, but not via for you top 10.😂 They are an extremely talented band and the live versions are generally better than the studio recordings. But don't let you stop you from watching their OMV with the studio recordings as they are fire too. Hmmm...so many songs to suggest. "From Now On" OMV. Another amazing instrumental. The Maids show you if done right, instrumentals are AWESOME! "Domination" OLMV from Line Cube Shibuya. A song often used as introduction to the Maids. A great song to do a two-for with the OMV studio version and follow it up with the OLMV. See and hear the difference of what is done in the live setting vs the studio. "Real Existence" OLMV. Another you could do a two-for with live versus studio. Again, both kicking🍑!!! "Alone" OMV. Going back to a little history with the Maids. The first song which was accepted by their label, which they wrote from start to finish. A banger of a song and gave them the green light to do what they wanted to do. And they haven't looked back since. "Thrill" OMV. More history as it is their first OMV and is the song that saved the band from being disbanded. "Manners" and "Black Hole" OLMV from their Online Okyu-ji during the pandemic lockdown period. A great two-for showing off two different styles of the Maids. The first, "Manners", with it's bluesy/groovy feel. Then buckle up your seatbelts and experience the fast and chaotic feel of being sucked into a black hole. Their current fast bpm song at 220bpm. It will get your blood flowing. "Blooming" OMV. A compositional masterpiece of Kanami's (Lead guitar and main composer) homework assignment for the rest of the Maids. "Daydreaming" OMV. Another side of Band-Maid with this rock ballad masterpiece. "Puzzle" OLMV. A song which started out as an instrumental piece, but Saiki (the lead singer) wanted in on this fun song and asked Miku (Rhythm guitar, backing vocals, lead vocals, main lyricist, band founder and head spokes Pigeon) to write lyrics for it. You can also do a two-for with this one as there is a live acoustic version floating out there and this version has a completely different feel from the ripping electric version. "Freedom" OLMV. A little fun on the drums. And the Maids having a great time on stage. Their most played song on tour. "Hate?" OLMV. Features a little conversation between MISA ("The Barefoot Assassin" on bass) and Kanami ("Mincho" on lead guitar). From their 10th Anniversary Tour Finale at Yokohama Arena. This was song 27 or 33 on the night. A 3hr and 40min musical journey of epic proportions. I was lucky enough to be there to witness it. Awe heck, just throw a dart. Hard to miss with any of their songs. Just should have said that from the beginning.🤣🤣🤣 PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘

Love Band-Maid because not only are they world-class musicians, they understand how to compose a song. They’re not just shredding to show off. They shred in the context of a well-constructed song that’s enjoyable to listen to. If I were to recommend a song for someone relatively new to Band-Maid: Hate? (Live) is it. Displays their song-writing abilities, Saiki’s (lead singer) vocals, and showcases their musicianship. Just a fun song overall

Band-Maid always makes it look easy. They've paid attention throughout their careers and learned from every experience. They know their tech inside and out, they all know how their cabs and drums need to be mic'd. They have a great crew behind them and they always do their best. They have a HUGE catalog and it's all good. Ask a Maidiac about his favorite Band-Maid song and they'll start naming off a list that never ends. I can't think off any bad Band-Maid songs. Suggestion: The Live Version is always better. Warning: Band-Maid doesn't pigeon hole themselves by sticking to one formula or genre, they experiment - a lot - and will surprise you with the variety they've produced. "Puzzle" (all live versions, electric and acoustic")

Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. While they don't class themselves as a metal band, they don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!
@zer0tzer04 ай бұрын
Don't forget their other instrumentals, 'Without Holding Back' and 'From Now On'. I think you mean Distortion, as "Cookie Monster Noise". There's two types, Natural Tube Distortion and Distortion Pedal Distortion, like a Fuzz Box or Overdrive pedal, or both. They're both a form of hard or soft clipping. Now that's a Rabbit Hole! BAND-MAID's a Pigeon Hole, po. Miku plays a 5150 now, but she's played through a Roland before, so it could go either way. Their influences are Santana, Hendrix, Smashing Pumpkins, Maximum The Hormone and Sheena RIngo.

Nice job BEL. Yep, it slips into 5/4 time for a few bars before the chorus. And I see a lot of the other stuff I was going to say has been said by others. But yeah, check out more of their stuff for sure. They are stylistically quite versatile and while they have a distinctive sound, each song is its own journey and they do defy genres. My fave band for almost six years now.

With your musical ears, I really think you would be rewarded by following this up with “From Now On.” Why? Because you said you aren’t really an instrumental dude, but this one still held your interest. Kinda cool, but imagine hearing another instrumental from the same band that’s completely different, yet somehow takes you on another interesting journey? It’s that sort of musical magic that separates the good from the great
