Miku actually has a bigger range than Saiki. Saiki was brought in because Miku doesn’t have an aggressive rock voice, rather than because she wasn’t a strong enough singer. The Band-Maid vocal sound is increasingly the two of them together, but it’s nice to get a Miku-forward song sometimes.

"Sayonakidori" is one of Saiki's "pee break" songs (LOL). She actually takes a break or two during a concert with Miku doing the vocals and an instrumental song, to rest her voice. Since she has had vocal surgery in the past, she (and the band) are very mindful of giving her voice that needed break.

Interesting thing about Kanami is that she is a trained singer. She just doesn't like to do it. Once she discovered guitar, that's what she focused on. I'm a big Miku fan. I love her voice, and I'm always really happy when she gets bigger solo parts for guitar. Her Cluppo songs are great, too. She shows how versatile she is in those songs, including both her higher and lower range. Add in the lyrics and her business sense, and she is incredibly talented. Of course, she was a pop singer before she started Band-Maid, so we already knew back then that she could sing.

Saiki the lead singer has had throat surgery in the past so the band are very careful with her voice. They play 2+ hour sets so to give Saiki a break around mid-set they do three things. 1. Play an instrumental, 2. Miku (rhythm guitar) takes lead vocals for a song or two (she usually has one track per album where she is lead vocalist) and 3. Miku will do her legendary and hilarious "Omajinai Time"("Magic Spell Time") MC set. Then Saiki comes back on to finish the set. Even though Saiki no longer needs a break nowadays, it's become more of a tradition. "Sayonakidori" = Nightingale. It's Miku's take on Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare (she wrote the lyrics). In the play, one can hear the nightingale's song drifting through evening scenes. The Nightingale reference is "Juliet mistakes the lark's song for the nightingale's, hoping that her evening romance with Romeo can continue. Romeo corrects her and departs her bedroom at dawn". Miku has both a higher and lower range than Saiki. But she does not have Saiki's power.

I think Miku has the powerful voice, but her vocal is tad girly that makes it ideal for poppier songs. I can imagine Miku singing most Band-Maid songs and I don't think she lacks power anymore but the music will sound a lot poppier.
@JayDeeMC20 сағат бұрын
I wouldn't say she doesn't have the power, she just doesn't have the forceful sound that Saiki does. But one thing Miku has is her scream. Got to love a Miku scream.

@@Olkam-w5u Miku does sing in a low voice. It's just that her comfort range is still mid to high and that's where she sounds best. Her speaking voice also has the little girly tone (even when she mumbles in a very low voice) to it but less obvious compared to when she sings.

Yes, but the subtitles irritate me every time I see this. Why “AI” remains untranslated is very misleading to anyone watching. I read that it can mean different things depending on context, which is fine, but the context here makes “AI” equate to “love”, and that ties the whole thing together. I doubt it can mean anything else… but that’s only if you know the backstory too.

Saiki takes off during Miku songs like 'Rock In Me' or the instrumentals. It used to be known as "Saiki's Bathroom Break". that was before we knew about her voice problems and throat surgery. She wondered why she had put it off for so long. After that she was so happy with the results Miku had it done as well. But the acoustic version isn't in a studio. It's from the Christmas Acoustic Okyuji. And for this song she doesn't have Saiki or her sensei, Kanami to lean on. It's almost like it's a Cluppo song. And you get a very rare Akane backing vocal.

Kanami wrote this song for Miku. Miku asked for the Kanami outro solo. Kanami added that and made some notes higher while telling Miku she had to use her chest voice. IIRC, Miku uses her chest voice to hit that high note in the electric live version. She doesn’t hit it perfectly live every time, but we Maidiacs cheer loudly either way. In the acoustic version, she asked her band mates if she could use her head voice instead. Hitting that note isn’t easy especially when sitting down and playing acoustic (imo). I don’t blame Miku. I think about Randy Meisner leaving The Eagles because he was so physically stressed over hitting the high notes in the only song he sang lead on: “Take It To The Limit”.

Miku was the original singer and this kind of shows what Band-Maid could have been, but Miku didn't feel like her voice was enough. So she found Saiki, but Miku still gets a song here and there. Plus, with Saiki's voice issues and surgery years back, this works out. It gives Saiki time to rest her voice and allows Miku, who I feel gets over shadow sometimes, her time in the spot light. Speaking of peace and love, there is a song called by Peace & Love by Cluppo that you will enjoy.

Miku was the original lead singer of Band-Maid, they did a few twin vocal songs (freezer, forward for example) after hiring Saiki but once Miku established herself as a rhythm guitarist in the band Saiki took over as the lead singer. Mainly because Miku's voice was a bit too poppy for the hard and heavy music they wanted to play. I believe that Miku has just as powerful voice as Saiki, but she doesn't have the velvety voice with vibrato like Saiki. I always thought that Saiki's voice is like wine (dry, mature, fruity to sweet) while Miku's is more bright, fun and punchy. Even though Saiki's vocal range has expanded fair bit, Miku still have about half an octave wider range. Band-Maid usually has one song per album which Miku takes over lead vocal. Rock in Me is the ultimate live banger for Miku. But "Brightest Star" from the latest album is my favourite. Sayonakidori has some of my favourite drum part and quirky guitar line but vocally I prefer the acoustic version. Miku did solo acoustic performance of "Big Dad" at their acoustic concert early this year, I honestly never liked the song until I heard the version (you can buy the CD), it's such an emotional, beautiful performance. Saiki also did a solo piano acoustic version of Choose Me, which was also absolutely beautiful. Any acoustic performance from 2024 is so good. Back in 2021 Miku stole my heart with this performance, but this year, Saiki stole my heart with her delicate airy voice. I honestly think they are both amazing in a different way.
