Band-Maid has been evolving into their unique sound (No God/Black Hole/Sense/Corallium). I hope they keep creating songs like "Shake That" which have the classic rock and roll vibes. I love their new neo-progressive stuff but I also love their bluesy, funky, jazzy, poppy, punky, metallic rock.

I not fan when people say it's sounds likes "write the name of the band here", but I have to admit on this one, if we take of the sing part and just keep the music, I have a really big Metallica vibes on this one 🤣🤣. But I love Metallica too so idc xD And for the "When I come back to band-maid" parts, it's the same here, when I'm exhausted on a long walk for the sake of my back and my feet hurts like hell (I have to choose between back or feet pains everyday because only a walk calm down my back when it start to be painful xD) or feeling bad mood, any BAND-MAID's song do the tricks to get better. The very first one "CD" (MAID IN JAPAN) and the first single are pretty fun to hear too. Very different (I guess we can say it's very light pop-punk) but very good too. And it's fun to see how the albums names suits them well in there band journey. MAID IN JAPAN : the creation of crazy bad ass rock concept with kawaii maids outfit, start with good rock New Beginning : The "lets try more hard rock" turn Brand New MAIDS : The beginning of the song writing freedom Just bring it : This one talk from himself 🤣🤣 WOLRD DOMINATION : "Yes ok we are ready girls, let's go rock there face off to achieve the main objective" CONQUEROR : "Do it again to complete them" (I was very fan before but it's "Blooming" who turn me from big fan to absolute MAIDIACS) Unseen World : "Now we hooked and knock out all of them and they think they have seen the deep of our rabbit hole and that can not be more awesome, prove them they are all wrong and bring them deeper in another rabbit hole dimension!" xD

Ah, Akutsu sensei (composer). If you remember the commented version of the acoustic concert there is a moment where they talk about the musicality of his compositions and the respect that they professes for him. They are always respectful and grateful to all those who made them grow. Then 2016 arrived and when they took charge of their career become in epoch composers was a matter of time. But it all started from the fact that they had ears, intelligence and respect to learn. All this gives a clue to who they really are, geniuses who inspiration always catches them working.

@ronniebrucehalford83962 жыл бұрын
The opening riff has such a '70s feel. Can't quite name it but it reminds me of Queen or Thin Lizzy. Then it shifts into a fuller sound that brings me back to the '80s. After watching your reaction, I had to put on Cinderella's "Shake Me" just to compare. I prefer other Cinderella songs like "Somebody Save Me" and "Gypsy Road" but Shake Me is still catchy like a B-M tune. But then I remembered what always disappointed me about the glam metal songs of yore. Sure the choruses were catchy and the guitars were crunchy. But the drums and bass just plod along. Akane keeps throwing in fills and double bass pedal work really that really spices up what could've just been a decent hard rock song. And yeah, Kanami may not solo as long as the guys in Cinderella, but she certainly plays a lot more interesting things throughout the whole song.

Not only this song, but also BAND-MAID's vocalist, SAIKI's way of singing and MIKU's way of putting lyrics are made with the emphasis on "overall musicality". This means that the majority of the lyrics in Japanese are inaudible even to those of us who speak Japanese on a daily basis. BAND-MAID's songs are not created by attaching a melody to the lyrics, but rather by KANAMI first creating the image of the song, then MIKU adding the lyrics, and finally all the members making adjustments to maximize the role of each instrument and the sound effect. This process is unique. This process is unique, as it results in the creation of a large number of well-balanced songs that reflect the opinions of all the members, who are specialists in guitar, bass, drums, chorus, etc. It is also the driving force behind the unparalleled diversity and uniqueness of the more than 100 songs. Under the leadership of KANAMI, all the members of the band are able to show their spontaneity and self-assertion to the full in the process of composing. This is the main source of the band's infinite talent. It is clear that the band's good rapport and active exchange of ideas contribute to the creativity of the band.

If somebody grew up in the 80s and doesn't feel something nostalgic in the first four bars, they must have grown up Amish or in a commune or something. On the other hand, if you do have that immediate recognition but don't simultaneously realize that this has built upon and advanced what was being done in the 70s/80s/90s, you need to catch up or listen more closely or something. And I'm not dissing those older bands; if Band-Maid had been around back then they wouldn't have the foundation to do what they do now IMO. In the same way that Zeppelin took what went before and reinvented it, and then Rush and Iron Maiden took THAT and reinvented it, and then Tool took THAT and reinvented it (I'm leaving out a lot of in-between stuff there)...Band-Maid has taken all that and reinvented it and also made it once more easily accessible (i.e. catchy) instead of heading off into noodle-head extreme heaviness sheer-technicality-land. I'd say Polyphia has done the same but without going back as far with their influences.

This was written by a label songwriter. But it does not sound generic, it does not sound like anybody else, it sounds like Band-Maid. And it is the same with most songs from these earlier records. How? Are these random label songwriters this good? If yes, why are they not producing more of this music? Or it is that you just throw an average/decent pop-rock song at Band-Maid, and they make it great through arrangement and expression? Or, are the songwriting credits just corporate bullshit, the songwriter maybe came up with the hook, but most of the work was actually done by Kanami and co.? The story of "we have 3 early albums with almost all songs written by the label, but they all sound exactly like us" is really confusing to me.
@RyanMear2 жыл бұрын
I really think everything was tweaked by the girls, but they really respected and appreciated some of the writers, and ask speak about them. On one song from the acoustic show, they mention the writer, and how much they learned from them. Saiki and Miku voices are their own. Kanami's solos were her solos. You can't give a shitty band good music and have it come out great. But you can give a great band good music and have it come out spectacular. There are hints of their future in all the older stuff I've heard, but you can tell it's simpler overall. There's a definite evolution

Sure enough everyone has a specific genre of music they enjoy most but the bottom line is this band does not make any bad music and they never mail it in. Why is that so? Because l believe they pour their heart and soul into every single thing they do. And it shows. Sacramento loves Band-Maid.

Because of this song, I started to include sprinting (preferably uphill) as part of my jogging routine. I couldn’t listen to this song and not sprint.

This song is dangerous when you sit in your car... Like, speed limits? What's that?? 😆I can't understand that my car speakers are still alive. This song needs to be listen on loud volume! Really LOUD!!

I was driving my parents around a few months back, doing various errands. Of course Band-Maid was blasting on the car stereo (my car, I decide the music 😉) . My mom (74) loved this song when she heard it.

There is no age to love Band Maid. Your mom has good taste in rock music.😁🤘

Shake That is one of my favorites. May actually be my favorite BM song that doesn't have a video.

One of my favorites from their earlier days. You missed Saiki's "oof" at the beginning. (best part)

It also reminds me of his little muffled cry of fear in the intro of Unfair game. I love that.

@@Kissthetoad321 Ah yes, the inhale. I forgot about that! I love Unfair Game and I do not listen to it as much as it deserves. Parts of it remind me of Tool and NIN. (the swirly parts) I will listen tonight and raise a beer to you (and MISA).

@@cygnetseven Oh thank you. I would like to do the same but I don't have beer available. I run to buy some. Besides, I also like Miku's screams in Why, Why, Why.🍺😁🤘

This is one of those songs I keep coming back to. You can tell on this track, much as later songs like "I can't live without you" that they've pushed the amp to it's limit in some little isolation booth, creating this sort of punchiness that can be felt every time Kanami touches a string. I hear some guys talk about using a Rat pedal to help recreate that punch. Love it. 👍

I enjoy the lack of compression on the master of these older albums. Pony Canyon needs to stop screwing with it, just to brag that it's higher decibels than another.

Such an underrated song! One thing I miss that you hear in these early songs are the great dual vocals by Saiki and Miku. They've lost much of that in their latest songs. The mixes kinda drown out Miku for the most part. They need to bring that back.

This song is so great. It's even got a proper drum solo in it!

I also want to mention that I like the music fade-out at the end... you should do that all the time.
