Band Maid songs at this point are so dense that even trained musicians will tell you that you have to listen to their songs several times to truly get every thing that is there. We used to be impressed with some power trios that had a "wall of sound". Band Maid takes that to the next level where they sound like there should be a full orchestra playing. Now I know that backing tracks and so on add some but each person in this band adds so much continually that it can just overwhelm at first listen. They have reached a point where each of them is essentially a lead player.

It also seems that just listening to a new song on constant repeat for the first 24 hours is not going to reveal everything. You need to take breaks and come back fresh or you just hear the same elements over and over. And while I love videos, they're distracting and influence what you hear; there's a reason why engineers and producers say to mix and record without looking at meters and waveforms.

I gotta be honest. The first time I heard it, I wasn't sure how I felt about it. After a few listens of paying attention to different details, I do love it, but I'm still not sure I'd want a whole album in this style. I also agree with many others who aren't happy with how compressed the audio is. By the way, Wave Potter made a video yesterday explaining his interpretation of the story in the video, and I think it's dead on.

Akane,also,plays trombone. I believe Saiki plays piano,. Misa played guitar then switched to bass in order to join a band prior to Band-Maid. Other commenters can correct or add to this info.

Pop Culture ... Band Maid is in the Netflix Movie " Kate " playing live in a Club , and one of thier Songs is used in a Car Chasing Scene. Of Course they are mentioned in the Credits as Actors ... so Cool 😍 Misa having a Drink 😂😂

@@yolandria Well, Babymetal have invented a new form of performance art, but the music itself is recognizably metal. Band-Maid are doing something which doesn't fit any existing genre definition. Whether others follow remains to be seen. In any case, love both bands! For me the last major genre innovation was Symphonic metal--Therion, Nightwish etc.

If the song and video don't do its title justice, then I don't know what will. Pure fire from the first to the last second. 🤘🏻🔥 And as always, with so much attention to detail in both the song AND especially the video, which can already be called insane. Every scene at the beginning that introduces the members is from previous music videos. Saiki (Blooming), Akane (World Domination), Kanami (Alone), Misa (Dice), Miku (Thrill). And to tell the band history and events of the last years with all the insecurities and how they overcame them in 3 minutes is brilliant and with the mix of anime and real footage wonderfully realised. This song slams !!! The anime maids are so cool & fun. I love the storyline of the video, our wonderful maids are conquering the darkness with their energy and great music vibes. This song is super catchy and straightforward, which I actually like. Good review. Also, apart from being a solid rhythm guitarist and singer, Miku has been writing the lyrics for many years. Band Maid is the best rock band going !!!!!

Band-Maid of late has this certain phenomenon thing going regarding their more progy-punk hard rock and Anime written tunes. These songs are hard, complex and will totally grow on you like a thousand pound R&R leach. The Maids in this format are relentless and powerful. Band-Maid fans notice a lot of hidden clues in this video. The one that's most poignant to me is at 2:22 where Miku is shown (Alone) in the original 2015 video Thrill where she couldn't play guitar at that point and to reflect on how far she has come since then. Also At 2:43 Kanami with hearts around her when she's close with Saiki since every fan knows that Kanami is in love with Saiki.

Hey OSN, a couple of corrections to your comments... First: Miku isn't the "least trained musician" in the group, they are all highly trained. Where Miku was behind in the group is in her guitar skills. She originally trained as a vocalist in school, and she was in several J-Pop vocal groups that didn't go anywhere. When she formed BandMaid she was going to be the last singer, but they found that her voice didn't fit a lot of the material they were working on. So the band found Saiki and asked her to become the lead singer, while Miku took on backing vocals and rhythm guitar... It was the first that Miku didn't have any training on, but with Kanami teaching her she has quickly become a very good rhythm guitarist. Now someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this, but the only anime related song they've done so far is "Different", which was the opening song for season 3 of Log Horizon. They have, however been in a Netflix movie (which I can't remember the name of) and wow a song for that movie. I want aware of the John Cena connection. Imo, this song should be the opener for an anime, it's that frickin good.

Miku is the "least experienced" musician of the group, which is more than likely the point he was trying to get across. As far as the anime songs they've done, Different, Sense, Glory, and Carry on Living were all featured in animes (as far as I know).

This song doesn't follow the conventional structure. They sort of did that with Giovanni but in a different way which I've come to really love. With this song though, not having an intro still throws me off if I'm entirely honest but excites me at the same time cos it means they are not scared to take risks. But the sound is a bit overprocessed as well as compressed, sounds even more compressed on KZbin than usual imo. It'll probably sound great live though, with powerful vocals and raw sounding instrumental.
