I hear some musicians have simple memos and some don't write anything. Akane said writing down every single note she plays is her style.

You know, I have never thought of a musician that way, but I see Akane like a Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan. You can tell that she puts in the 14 hour days, shooting 5,000 foul shots or range balls a day, so she can be technically perfect without a second thought so she can inject her, let's call it style, and be transcendent and utterly enjoyable. I suggest looking at some fancams and seeing how she is able to interact with the other band members while literally never missing a beat. Reminds me of how Buddy Rich could slam and still engage and entertain.

She really does put lots of time into the kit and her ability. It’s very interesting to see how specific musicians play “certain” sports in a sense (genres). I can see the relatability of her and the great buddy rich. Also similar to gene Krupa, who was a big influence on Keith moon. Love drum analysis and neediness. Be well. ☺️

Akane's double kick drumming is insane, it's rapid fire and so impressive (to me at least). I was also listening to Misa's thundering bass in the background,. A solid rhythm section is the bedrock of any band, and in my opinion Akane and Misa are Band-Maid's secret weapon 🤘🤘

What I like about Akane's drumming is it's musicality, she's not just a metronome she play music with her TAMA kit.

John Bonham was (AFAIK) one of the first drummers to realise the importance of the kick/pedal and use it for much more than simple back-beats, often as a major part of his fills/rolls. It's now a stand-out with all the best drummers and Akane is just so frikking good with that double pedal. She (and other really good drummers) often display the serene swan effect where they're seemingly languidly using the sticks while machine-gunning interpolated (?) patterns into the stick work with the pedals.

Akane serves the music. She plays her drums with the same skill as her fellow band members. She writes out her music for each of her limbs long-handled. She not only plays her instruments she also composes the music in partnership with her band mates.

She said she has supported jazz bands in the past and likes to listen to jazz, so she must like the subtlety and darkness of K Zildjian's hi-hats and ride.

I really have yet to hear anyone like Akane. Certainly before I found The Maids, but also since. She seems to think different. Definately WAAAY different than my playing has ever been. I loved your take on how musicians are like athletes. While you were saying those things, I was thinking "fingerprints". We all have unique fingerprints. It's amuch more fun to put your own "stamp", or "fingerprint" on some one else's composition. Not only more fun, but inevitable, really. Thanks much, man! 🕊

Great analysis! 15 secs into the song and I’ve already learned a lot that I wouldn’t have noticed otherwise! Keep it up :D And I hope you find a video player that works for you, I can tell you have a lot you want to say and sucks to have technology limit yourself.

In English, we often put an emphasis on a syllable and our ending "e" silent. Japanese give equal emphasis on their syllables, and the final "e" pronounced either on its own or combined with the consonant before it. So, her first name would sound ah-kaw-nay (A ka ne), each part equal, no emphasis. Last name hee-row-say (Hi ro se). In Japan the custom is to put family name first....Hirose Akane. You might hear various endearments, especially for females, "-chan", "-incho", "-kun" get added to part of the name. So, friends or family might address her as Achan or Akachan. Formal discussions you don't do that, in fact, an honorific is attached to the full name, mostly to the family name, Hirosesan. And maybe to the first name, Akanesan.

I'm not a drummer, but what strikes me as amazing is that in the live videos, it looks like there is no tension in Akane. It's like she's sitting back and relaxing in an easy chair while she produces some of the tastiest drumming around.

From a martial arts perspective, being stiff and tight slows you down. Calm and relaxed is the basis of quickness and power.

Just found your Akane drum reactions and watched them all - great videos! - and you havn't even done what i'd consider her top 2-3 best drumming songs :) Hope you keep doing more. P.s Not sure what video player your are using (is it vlc? its a great player but it sure likes to crash lol) but if you are playing a video in a video player in future reactions, in my experience it isnt PAUSING the makes them crash- you should be fairly safe pausing all you like. Its making the player SEEK a lot that crashes them usually- i.e skipping about a lot.

@@DRUMNERDOh ... First tour was "Fly By Night" was the tour ... They had the most simply amazing set by far. Lights shining up through floor. Fog flowing out of the stage and lights shining up made a brilliant colorful waterfall. BAND-MAID is one of the most talented sets I've seen in a while. The groups like BABYMETAL and BAND-MAID hold a crowd where most don't know what they are saying. I'm thinking how Cheap Trick blew up Japan ., And here we go again.

They must have an amazing collection of memorabilia from their shows. Sorry, I'm just rollin a long and too much dain bramage.
