Band-Maid has a special relationship with Holidays, and this video was all about April Fools Day. They re-imagined themselves as Band-Maiko, took down their Band-Maid web site and replaced it with Band-Maiko and even changed their names. They re-wrote "Secret My Lips" as "Secret Maiko Lips" adding traditional Japanese instruments to a revised arrangement and rewriting the lyrics in the old Kyoto dialect of the Geisha. This was part of a very elaborate April Fools Day prank. Maiko are apprentice Geisha. The calligraphy Miku is writing translates to 'World Domination' - another of Band-Maid's running gags. A companion to this video is the video for "Gion-cho" a song written specifically as a Band-Maiko song.

Maiko are girls training to be geiko (geisha), they are taught traditional dances, singing, and an instrument which is often a shamisen. You can see MISA with a shamisen near the beginning of the song.

This is Band Maiko ... they cover a few Band Maid songs, like "Secret My Lips", as well as some kick-a$$ originals like "Gion-Cho" - its not even sung in the same dialect as Band Maid ;) Band Maid did sing one of their songs in concert, so obviously some mutual respect there. I'll let others finish the story.

I've noticed I've never seen Band-Maid and Band-Maiko in the same place. Weird.

The pipe is most likely a bachi, a bamboo flute akin to a fife.

No, I set up a bunch of pre loads on premier so the community can know about them. I’ll be stuck away in some camp for 3 months so want to get everything squared away before leaving.
