Actually, Seo Taiji used to be in the metal band Sinawe as a bassist, before the group broke up for awhile, which then Seo Taiji went to form a group with 2 other guys called "Seo Taiji and Boys", where basically they were doing mostly hip-hop (tho they are credited as the founders of kpop). However, it is good to take note that during those subsequent years together, they progressively became more rock, where their 3rd album is the most rock/metal influenced work released. After that, Seo Taiji went solo and went back to his roots and basically released rock/metal stuff, with the song you're reacting to, being from his album "Seo Taiji VI". But, you are right in a sense that his latest album is arguably in the more electronic/pop direction. Hope I don't come off as too rude 😅 (btw I recommend "Seo Taiji V" and "7th Issue" if you want his more heavier sounding songs)

This song's original name is "대경성(Daegeyoungsung)". It's came out september 2000. Feel the soul is title of re-recording version.

Yo what up bro so this song is about how South Korea was getting industrialized and away from their traditional culture. Japan has stayed with their culture but Korea is more of a modern Asian country and this is an athem basically that South Korea has become corrupt with pollution and industries polluting the shore with useless toxins that the korean people were getting upset about so SeoTaiji took it out of him to create a track people can releat to. Also it is pronouced Seo Tey Jay for future reference!

Just to clarify, this song came out in 2003, which is 10 more years than what you thought (i.e. 2013). You can tell by the video quality, which looks more like analog tape rather than digital. But it is a banger.

For a conceptually amazing and unique song, I'd HIGHLY recommend Beyond Deviation - Identity Crisis It's unlike any song I've heard before and has some unbelievable moments. Would love to see you check this one out
