@sigmundschadenfreude91Ай бұрын
@@marshhen As a bass player the kick drum is what guides you in where the emphasis notes come in your bass line. Firstly she plays with enough power that as a bassist you'll never struggle to hear her kick drum. On top of that, she doesn't overplay but that right foot is busy enough that as a bassist you'll have no trouble locking into the groove. Finally, she's a tasteful player. She plays with power but not too much. She knows when to cut loose but never overdoes it. Likewise, she knows when to pull back and how to build drama. She knows how to use the brass to change it up and she uses dynamics to tell a story with her performance. That's makes life a lot easier for bass players who need room to provide melody. That's tough when you're doing all the rhythmic heavy lifting if the drummer's not cutting it. Hope that helps

Her personal break down was actually refreshingly honest. She did great. She could of let it breathe in spots a little more, but she points that out herself. Plus she was simultaneously doing the exercise and playing around with the song to feel it out. I thought her after commentary was every bit as good as the performance was.

@@scene24man Along with lyrical content and Tom Morello's musicianship, what really separates Rage from the rest of the 90s rap rock also-rans is how tight and funky their rhythm section is.
@latinolawdog50677 ай бұрын
Yeah, Rage used a lot of primal beats in their songs and let Tom explore the room with his unique guitar wizardry. The drums were used more as a thump than a musical instrument at times, which is probably what made them so good. If Brad were back there using a lot of fills, double bass, complex signatures, etc it probably would have drowned out Zack’s crucial lyrics and Tom’s riffs somewhat.
