An excellent presentation, Alex. You are correct about the Pantone 560c green paint. All the Mk II Male tanks were either build by William Foster & co of Lincoln who, as you said, build agricultural machinery. One of these machines was the steam traction engine (see the traction engine, Trevor, in the Rev. W Awdry's Thomas the Tank Engine railway series), which were either painted in this green or a dark crimson red. The Metropolitan Carriage, Wagon & Finance Co at Wednesbury built the Female tanks and their core business was steam trains; also utilising that same green paint.

Cheers Terry, glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, I figured they'd be using what materials they have at hand, so all that makes sense.

Thank you for that Alex! I like your interpenetration of a burial work party itself being turned into another. The track section protected all three bodies. I listened and painted some 10mm Gauls.

Cheers Richard, I am glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, that was the most liekly explanation I can think of. Happy to be proven wrong though.

That was a really great lecture mate, really enjoyed it. The story about the veteran talking to the buried German soldiers you found hit a real chord with me, different circumstances, but that's something I do. Hope you manage to get back out there again this year.

Fantastic presentation Alex, and especially interesting with the comments about the CWG work in recovering British/Commonwealth remains. The discussion about DNA, and the problems with identifying the remains was enlightening.

Cheers Keith, glad you enjoyed the talk. The works carried out by the Grave Recovery Units after the war is interesting in itself, it took several years and not everyone was actually recovered. And yes, the DNA question comes up at every talk I do, so I'm already fully armed!

This is amazing. My dad, a Vietnam vet, could benefit greatly from this. Well done.

@@StormofSteelWargaming I think so. I’ll look into it. He’s just now trying to deal with his own combat PTSD 50+ years later. In addition to tabletop gaming I am fascinated by battlefield archaeology. Thanks again for posting this.

Great stuff! On Charles Bean blaming the tanks, like some other Australian writers on war, he liked to blame others when Australian troops didn't achieve their objective. Interesting that some metal parts of the tank survive while others rust away. Focusing on a small setting like this can often give a sharper picture for the reader/viewer so I'd like to see more like it too.

Great report Alex, very interesting. Do you plan to do any more like this on your channel or is this a one off. Also, thanks for referring me to your video on Werner Voss, some one I'd not heard of probably as he seems to be over shadowed by Richthoffen

Cheers buddy! I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you have a look on the military history playlist, you'll find another talk I did about battlefield archaeology as an introduction. I'm glad you liked the Voss video as well. Personally, I think he was the better pilot between him and Richtofen, his kill rate was slightly higher if you work it out statistically.

Voss to me was the better man. Not just as a high scoring pilot, but handling the stress that went with it. It requires something special to enter the fight that killed him!!
