A tribute to one of the best series of all time. This series, telling you the story of Easy Company of the US Army Airborne Paratrooper division is so unbelievably realistic, so authentic... There has been put so much effort in taking care of all the details that it makes you believe that you are right in the middle of all the action. This is an outstanding achievement.
Songs: Steve Jablonsky - Dragon army
Steven Price, Fury Soundtrack
Unashamed, Confidential Music
Band of Brothers is a 2001 British-American war drama miniseries based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's 1993 non-fiction book of the same name. The executive producers were Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who had collaborated on the 1998 World War II film Saving Private Ryan. The episodes first aired in 2001 on HBO. The series won Emmy and Golden Globe awards in 2001 for best miniseries.
The series dramatizes the history of the "Easy" Company (part of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division) from jump training in the United States through its participation in major actions in Europe, and up until Japan's capitulation and war's end. The events portrayed are based on Ambrose's research and recorded interviews with Easy Company veterans. The series took literary license, adapting the recorded history for the purposes of dramatic effect and series structure. All of the characters portrayed are based on members of Easy Company. Some of the men were recorded in contemporary interviews, which viewers see as preludes to each episode. The men's identities are not revealed until the finale.
The title for the book and the series comes from the St. Crispin's Day Speech in William Shakespeare's play Henry V, delivered by Henry V of England before the Battle of Agincourt. Ambrose quotes a passage from the speech on his book's first page; this passage is spoken by Carwood Lipton in the series' finale.

Pvt Ed Tipper, shown @1:39 was my high school English teacher. Shown in EpIsode 3 he was badly injured at Carentan. Back then we knew nothing about his service in WWII, only that this “old”([probably mid 40s) man limped and had a glass eye that that seemed to always point in the opposite direction from his good eye. Wish more than anything we could go back in time and show the huge amount of respect he this humble man deserved. RIP Mr Tipper.

Think all who fought were the toughest ever lived. We know about Bastogne. I also think what goes unheralded are the units that at the beginning of the battle of the bulge that tried to hold ground and delayed the German advance while being vastly outnumbered would be a great miniseries.

William Eaton different parts of the world, sir. I served with marines in Viet Nam, 1967-68 and as a 101st Airborne Ranger I will tell you that we were tougher than those guys. We jumped at night, drug those guys outta hell and now you tell me if you haven’t stood in the door in the middle of the night, looking into the abyss you are a leg and most marines were legs. I respect what they did but never have the audacity to compare unless you have been there. Please do not compare us.

Actually Gnurf, who fought in the great dead cow war in 12846 BC was the toughest man ever. He saved all the Moist Fish Tribe by bringing that dead cow back after defeating the ennemie coalition. And they had very good spear throwers in their ranks. Then despite is injuries he managed to cross the snowsnow mountains with that dead cow on his back. Is memory shall live for ever. Oups no like any other war it just faded away. Too bad for him. At least he totally got laid.

Band of Brothers has proven to be the best miniseries of all times. 20 years after it was released, fans are still talking about it and there are still new groups of people watching it. None of the craps that we have these days come close to it. A huge tribute to Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Stephen E. Ambrose.

Absolutely the best mini series ever. There is no way to understand it unless you were there. You can only try to see it from their perspective and listen to their experiences. When I graduated from high school 40+ yrs ago, I worked around many WW2 vets. Gene, a man that went ashore at Iwo Jima. Jonesy, a tail gunner in a B17 shot down over Europe. Preston, a sailor that had more than one boat shot out from under him escorting Murmansk Convoys. Others that I do not remember their names. I listened to their stories when they would talk. I miss these men, that generation and their influence on our country. God Bless their memory. Shall we never forget them.

I had the good fortune to be able to take my two Sons with me on the 75th anniversary of D Day. My beautiful wife understood the importance of that selfless act on so many levels. My father was wounded toward the end of the battle of the bulge and was a medic. He rarely spoke of those days and when he did, it was to point out o us kids that freedom isn’t free and was paid for by average men and women doing super human things. God bless America and her allies and God bless each and everyone of those souls that gave heir all.

For those of us who have served at any time, we understood the message of this mini series. It brings home the reality of being a soldier. its a job that has to be done no matter what the price. It is the most intense activity anyone can be involved in, and it carries a heavy price. It is why we remember those who did so that others would not have to.

The series was on our pay-TV here in Australia again last week, watched every episode again. It seems to be brutally honest in what the men had to deal with and the conditions they faced very real. The Pacific was on this week, both series are the bar to which any other production would be measured against. Terrifying what all services had to cope with. Congratulations to all involved in both series and SPR. Cheers.

I love how unlike so many (including many good) adaptations of WWII, this show, even though it's from the American perspective, doesn't take sides, and shows the war from the point of view of the people who actually did it. Not officers, not medal-studded heroes, just ordinary guys whose lives got interrupted. It doesn't make war into entertainment. It isn't a nostalgia circle jerk glorifying "the greatest generation". It's got that level of honest detail - not raw, not brutal - that lets the story show itself rather than be shown. I've only seen that in Game of Thrones and a few very good anime like Fullmental Alchemist and Death Note. Take Fury. It's a great movie that shows tank battles and doesn't go mad with the cinematic license - but all the comments on Fury clips are about Brad Pitt the righteously crusading badass killing Nazis. In Band of Brothers you see the helpnessness, the hopelessness, the randomness. You see characters who you thought were your friends get killed. It feels like an epic yet it's just one season long. No-one is OP, Nazis don't stand around waiting to be shot. It shows you battles in a way that, whenever anyone gets killed, you really feel it. Most action films the action is the entertainment. In this the action is just horrifying. Thank you for making this. Thank you to those who made Band of Brothers to show my generation why war is bad, because every generation needs to learn it in their own way. Thank you, you brave few, for the world we have today, that I and my children if I have them can live in the longest enduring peace in recorded history.

I had the honor and pleasure of making good friends with a WWII veteran who, as he put it "had a tour of Europe courtesy of the United States Army". He said that between Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan, that this was as close as you could get to showing what it was really like during those times. Interestingly, he NEVER said "US" or "USA", he always spoke the full words United States of America".

@@Fiend169 yeah I know they're still called that but my point is they shouldn't be... and don't get me wrong I love the generation of ww2 one of my distant cousins was a medic in the 101st airborne, but I don't think it's right to just generalize an entire generation by saying "oh everyone in this new generation is so bad but everyone back then was so good"

no disrespect to the men portrayed in the mini series " Pacific" , but " Band of Brothers " is IMHO, light years ahead in terms of ("story" telling ) quality

They are all good at the various aspects of combat Letters From Iwo Jima and Flags Of Our Father's by Clinton Eastwrad were both brilliant at showing that there was both atrocities and moments of human decency on both sides - I am a private 1/15th RNSWL ( Royal New South Wales Lancer's ) and served along side vet from Nam and worked as a civilian employee at the 212th Corp RAEME (Royla Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineer's) and knew a man who served in Korea and he said the same thing war is brutal and disgusting and don't get involved if you can avoid it

It's just different. The actors that played Sledge and Snafu were gold together. Band of Brothers didn't have that.

David Green I respectfully disagree. Then again, I was a USMC grunt in 'Nam, 1967-68.
