A platoon is 16 - 50 soldiers, a company is 100 - 250 soldiers, a battalion is 400 - 1000 soldiers, and a regiment is 1000 - 2000 soldiers.

A company is 120- 150 men. It’s made up of 3 platoons of about 45 guys each. A battalion is 3 companies and the regiment is 3 battalions. Companies A-C are 1st battalion D-F 2nd, and G-I are 3rd battalion. A squad is usually 10 guys separated into 2 fire teams. 4 squads to a platoon. The leftover men at the platoon and company level are medics, runners, forward observers, radio operators, and command.

Yes the temporary blindness is a real thing, happened to me as well although it was not a combat situation. Just under extreme stress

'they were about to go home', no they weren't. Nobody was going home until the war was finished dude. I won't tell you about Blithe since there's probably fifty other comments on it below. I will make a comment about the actors. Some of them got to meet the men they were to portray in the show. Some were still alive when this came out, and got to see it. To a man, the actors have said working on this show, meeting the real men, learning their stories...changed their lives. They fiercely defend the memories of Easy Company, to this day. They have reunions often, and many of the families of the real men of Easy will attend. There's a nine part series of the 20th Anniversary of Band of Brothers on You Tube. It was held at the WWII museum in New Orleans. A lot of the actors where there, many of the show runners, the lady that did most of the interviews which you see at the beginnings of the episodes was there, and she had some funny stories about the men she came to know. I think a few of them had a crush on her, she's easy on the eyes. Some of the family members of the men were there too and on the podium to share stories. Many of the actors to this day maintain a close relationship with the surviving family members of the men they portrayed. You should watch that. Might not be so good to react to, but it will sure help your soul.

Yes, Blithe survives. One of the few mistakes Band of Brothers makes. Then went on to serve, with distinction in the Korean War. "The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. The "white stuff" is sulfa powder. It was used as an anti bacterial to reduce the chance of infection.

I will add that mistaking it for clotting powder is a common and reasonable mistake by modern reactors, since on a modern battlefield it would be used at the same time and much the same way as sulfa powder was, if for a completely different purpose. While clotting agents existed in the 1940s they were not in wide use. Sulfa on the other hand was one of the most common items of medication in the US Army. It's no longer in common use for a number of reasons.
