That kept pissing me off too because all he would ultimately use those troops for is to reinforce his outer borders. He could have just dropped them there in the first place rather than let the few border troops run into a massacre, only to reset the count at the end of his turn

If Chilled happens to be reading through these comments I just hope he knows we're not against him playing this game. In fact, we'd like to see him play more of it and learn it to the point of competence. It's clear that he does understand tactics in some capacity. He realizes that capitals are more valuable than regular places. He also realized that he had a bottleneck that was important to keep. Both things intersected here so he put a high priority on protecting it. In some games that works, this just wasn't one of those games. Give it some time and he will get better.

Hey! SO the video is two weeks old so I dont remember EXACTLY what I was thinking at the time but I believe it was something along the lines of this -If I put troops on the front line I am constantly going to have to battle and have a back and forth with people. LOSING a lot of troops in the process. This game may be called risk but its more about predicting human behavior. If I have a 4 or 5 on the front lines and then a 15 behind it. The person may just ignore the 4 or 5 and go for someone else knowing that a BIGGER army is behind those 4 or 5. -Taking the above strategy, if I turtle, Amass troops and let others fight...I can quickly roll through Asia. -This is also a game about NOT BEING A THREAT TO PEOPLE. If I amass the most land. Like Vikk did. Its fucking over. It becomes a 3v1 in an Instant. This is about subtly not taking land, building on a capital, spreading my resources, AND HOPING TO GOD no one notices me. I can also take over other capitals and stop their bonuses but other people were doing that. So while this was my first game and I was learning, I don' think my strategy was too bad. The one mistake I made was trading in my star cards early. I had no idea you get exponentially more troops

Well, speedy was basically in the middle of everything while chilled was more off to the side, while chilled also had a 12 and 10 blocking off access to the rest of his territories. Also, speedy was actually playing so he was technically a bigger threat than chilled despite having basically no troops at the end

It's impressive how much better they got even over the course of one game. At the beginning, they were all carving out their little empires and making alliances, but weren't even trying to disrupt others' continents. I think by the end they realized how overwhelmingly powerful the continent bonuses are.

Those hidden perimeters to randomly win can be turned off in the settings. I don't remember how, it's been a few years sine I've played this version, but you can turn them off and have a fullout last man standing risk game.

So, I think what happened at the end, (I THINK), there are buildings you can see on the map. Those are cities. I think he won, because he had over half the cities, and control of his original capital.

I'd like to see more Risk, but I really don't like the wheeling-and-dealing. Not because it's bad, but more it's just slowing everything down. Business deals in Monopoly, makes sense. But in RISK, I'd rather it be left at the door. But I do think it'd be amazing to see Chilled use his silver tongue in a game like Settlers of Catan. Just my opinion.

Watching this there are so many moments where I’m like. Oh that was a good move now if he follows with this move or that move he’ll be good. Nobody really did though. Enjoyed watching seems like chilled and the guys he played with are around the same skill level. So even though I kept being annoyed at bad moves it was enjoyable to watch.

Me and my family don’t play this game anymore because my strategy would be to start in Australia and just slowly move up into Asia to get more troops to stockpile in the capital and immediate connected countries so I would be untouched

Honestly, this is why you don't start a land war in Asia unless victory is guaranteed, there's always that one guy who is greedy and wants to start in Australia and go for it right away, but they can never capture it fully because Asia is border management hell, so everything goes to shit when the guy who start in S. America or N. America, or Africa starts bulldozing entire continents.

It probably won't replace Shellshock because Shellshock games are much shorter which means you can stick them in smaller videos, which more people will watch. Fewer people will want to make the commitment of watching an hour of Chilled playing a single match of this than those who will click on a video to watch a five minute round of Shellshock. However, this was somewhat fun. Hopefully he does this more often.
