Great vid as always ! I think when I restore mine, I will just clip those wires to the board about a 1/4 inch from the stakes leaving the insulation on the stubs. The upon reassembly, remove the insulation one by one and j-hook the wire to the 1/4 inch stub, less strain on me I think, as I don't have that tool you used. Luckily, I have a good camera though for documentation, but I can always freeze frame your video if I mess up !

That tool is $20 on eBay. I've never seen anyone do what you're proposing. I'm not saying it can't be done, but you might run into issues with wires not being long enough.

Well, you've never lead me wrong before ! I might try using the vintage Sprague Kwikettes connectors to keep the leads the same length. They talk about making homemade coil splicers on the radio forum as the ebay ones are a buck each. Surely Philco allowed for 1/4 inch tolerance. I heard you deny being the go to predicts guy, but for me you're the go tv guy.

Lovely authentic fuzz on this board. I'm sure the smell would be just as authentic when it was powered up 😆

Hi Bob. I like your restoring tips and recommendations. About resistors in some Predicta's you have restored, I see you are replacing pretty much ALL original carbon resistors? including 1/2 w? I personally prefer to replace the ones with a huge deviation, but always with some kind of NOS carbon resistors as well in order to maintain the original look. Any reason you are using film resistors in your projects ? (1/2 W film are quite smaller than 1/2 carbon). What wattage are you using ? And if yes, why do you recommend to do so.

Time and reliability. I'm not taking a board out a second time so I replace everything. Some need to have one end disconnected to test reliably. By the time I've done that, I might as well replace it. All the paper caps are being replaced so it's not going to look original anyway. I use 1W Vishay PR01, PR02 and PR03. The brown color is somewhat close to a carbon comp.

@@krz8888888 It sure is. I replaced it with an AC motor run capacitor in one of mine.
