back in the Film days we got the film processed and had proof sheets made, then you met up with the client and had them look at the tiny 35mm negative sized prints on the proof sheet with a loupe lol hopefully there was good light in the room to work the Loupe. LOL you kids got it easy today :) I enjoyed this video tho you are a very good public speaker and interact with the audience nicely.

Great talk, very smooth workflow. The only thing I'm not a very big fan of is making people choose two pictures in a hurry. Or even worse - just sending them the finished product of your choosing. I've heard a lot of people complaining that they never got the raw files from the entire shoot and saying they're never going back to that photographer again because of this. You don't need to process any, apart from the two you agree on, but it doesn't hurt you to let them have everything if they want to.
@HeadshotDC9 жыл бұрын
Shadowstray well, if you're shooting portraits, occasionally, letting clients proof and see and share with friends to get their selection, makes sense. but when you're doing 3-8 sessions a day and want to keep it cost effective, you need to wrap the job fast and proofing with the client on the spot is the way to go. otherwise, they'll get back to you in a week or more with a "maybe" and "not sure sure" and "hep me pick". Trust me, I've done it both ways. Aside of that, there's no conceivable reason to share raw files with portrait/headshot clients, but that's just me (I hope not).
@HeadshotDC9 жыл бұрын
Shadowstray Also, they pick more than two sometimes, its based on what they came in for. One thing is for sure, gotta keep the client happy :)
@Shadowstray9 жыл бұрын
Moshe Zusman Yeah, I have no issue with having them pick two or three or whatever. You process those in lightroom, edit them in photoshop and charge them for the editing. Why not also give them the entire shoot in Raw if they want though? If they want to get back to you about some shots - charge them for the editing again.
@HeadshotDC9 жыл бұрын
Shadowstray its a business practice I've tried in the past too. people have no patience. they will edit themselves and post your images wrongly represented (no always but even a little is not ideal). It's about preferences. for the most part, my headshots sell best with "less is more".
@Shadowstray9 жыл бұрын
Moshe Zusman I can see how you wouldn't want to be represented by a subpar image. A recent lecturer had a pretty cool suggestion to delete the bad ones and then to rename the entire remaining sequence, so the client wouldn't ask questions about the missing DSC_012734. The questions comes down to this: If a client asks you to get "all" the raw images and you don't offer that option - they complain to their friends that the photographer didn't fulfill this specific requirement and they don't like the photoshop edit they ended up with. If you give them the raw images - they may end up playing with the one you wouldn't personally pick and wouldn't present to them for the selection. They tell their friends that that was the picture you took. I don't see one as much worse than the other. Then again, I don't take pictures commercially myself, so don't make serious decisions based on this :)

I followed your demo with using EOS utility 3 then did't understand how to connect to Light RM to view images in Lr. How do I see images in Lr? Is there a possibility getting some presets for portraits? I am new to Canon and just purchased a 5D Mark iii. I'm trying to figure out settings and color etc. any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

This page from Adobe will instruct how to shoot tethered with Lightroom: adobe.ly/1OQ12G3 You can create custom user presets in the develop module that will be best suited to your camera. There is a preset marketplace provided by Adobe however I find creating your own based on the lighting, look, and feel that you would want to convey would be better than a pre-made one. *Andrea

where can i find how this white balance gadget is used?? you just shoot and the camera automatically calculates and shoots the correct collour?
@BandH8 жыл бұрын
There are various options for white balance accessories on the market. If you are using a basic grey card with a DSLR with a custom white balance option, you should be able to simply shoot the grey card and the camera will set the custom white balance (though, depending on your camera, there will be different menu setting you have to enact for this). If you were to use the X-Rite ColorChecker, you would shoot one frame with the ColorChecker, and then in Lightroom or Photoshop do a batch color balance. If you have specific questions about this, I would suggest contacting B&H directly through email. *Christina* AskKZbin@bhphoto.com

how can i find the shortcuts you were talking about? to do what you were doing
@BandH6 жыл бұрын
Adobe has a list of Adobe Lightroom Shortcuts listed online on their website. You may use Google or your preferred search engine to search for *"Adobe* *Lightroom* *CC* *Shortcuts"* to find the available shortcuts. The link below is also the link from Adobe's website with their current shortcuts. helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/help/keyboard-shortcuts.html

After highlighting the images you wish to compare, you may activate Survey View mode either by clicking the *[Survey View]* icon in the toolbar, or by pressing *[CTRL+N]* on Windows or *[COMMAND + N]* on Mac on your keyboard. To go to Full Screen mode, you may press *[CTRL + SHIFT + F]* on Windows or *[COMMAND + SHIFT + F]* on Mac.

It looks as though Moshe Zusman is using Adobe Lightroom. That being said, the options for tethering software would depend on your camera and computer. If you would like to know the options you would have for shooting tethered, you could send us an email informing us of the make/model of both your camera and your computer. *Christina* AskKZbin@bhphoto.com

"So at 37:27 we’re you in lightroom" "we’re" is the contraction for "we are". Did you mean to say "were"? Junior high school English can be "B" if you didn't pay attention.
