I’ve really liked ASU this year. This was a good battle. I’m looking forward to next year for a few bands. Bama state, Tx Southern and even my Alma Mater Kentucky state. The HBCU Band culture is looking really good.

As a person that played in the ocean of soul back in 2018 Prof Gibson never had hard rhythms that required a lot of tounging. Since they got the new band director, a lot of his rhythms are harder which require a lot of tounging. If TSU works on there tounging they could play all of his arrangements.

Texas Southern is lacking in maturity when playing Mr. Simmons arrangements. They'll need two or three more years and Mr. Reddick will be a great asset during this time.

I think Mr. Simmons & TxSu need another 12-18-months. What TxSU needs is pride, confidence, and the belief that they can be/are the baddest in the land...maybe AMBITION. SU IS ALL ABOUT AMBITION. I'm sure the SU band directors hired by TXSU are scratching their heads b/c they don't really know how to fix it b/c students at SU give 110%. TxSU students seem to be giving just 10%.

They're in a learning phase man. Give the kids a break. Simmons building from the ground up. Nothing great happens overnight. They gonna be fine in time like wine. TSU has never been a pushover.

Bandhead need to critique these bands on real music concepts and values. Music is a universal language and shouldn't be different for SWAC Bands that only make LOUD NOISE.

I hope he doesn't change everything about them. Let his brilliant mind enhance some of their style. But I know he's gonna turn them into a powerhouse. Greatness isn't built overnight. He gonna get them together. TSU has never been a pushover. They coming. Just let him get to a strong 160 to 180

And they already got they're recruits signed for next year. They're losing 12 seniors!. 🥱💪. We want a strong ocean so stop forcing it quickly! , Let him weed out some of these horn players . Because he's going to get like I told you before "QUALITY MUSICIANS" that can handle his arrangements! . Man take your pride out of this and actually start looking at what he's trying to do. Right now they're not close to what they are going to be, so let him do it.

ASU was definitely spectacular and out the box especially that they haven’t been beaten this whole year 😩
