Nice video and information man. Appreciate it. You think the sg40 is the best machine available for under 25?

I can’t say it’s the best because this is the only one I’ve ever owned and operated. But I’m pretty sure it’s the better priced machine in the 40hp range. Vermeer and Carlton machines of the same HP are in the 30s.

I know there is a lot of factors but in general how many inches an hour would you say that machine can grind?

There’s so many factors I wouldn’t be able to say. Wood species and tooth conditions are the biggest factors though. This machine shines with small to medium size stumps. If priced correctly you’ll make more doing multiple small/medium stumps vs the large ones. Hope this helps!

Is this a good machine to start a grinding business with?

I think it’s a good choice! But it’s the only one I’ve ever run.

A sg can grind a 120 dollar stump in under 10 minutes. Charging less and grinding large stumps will just wear out the sg40. That job you just did and charged as you learned will put you out of business fast. I paired my sg40 with a sp7015 and never looked back!

You’re so right! I try to stay away from larger stumps and would really enjoy a bigger machine. We’ll see what the future holds. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!

Nice vid, but you underbid the crap out of that job.

Oh no doubt. I’m having a hard time finding out what the rate is in my area. There are half a dozen tree services with grinders in our small town and pricing seems to be all over the place. I get bids and lose bids so I assume I’m in the middle somewhere. Everyone’s machine are way bigger than mine though so they’re doing them in half the time.
