The French stole Alsace and Lothingren (I like to use the German name for Lorraine, my little vice) in the 17th century while the HRE was busy fighting to keep the Ottomans from conquering all of Europe (Siege of Vienna), and they did start the Franco-Prussian war in the first place, the Prussian simply finished it. Anyway I also agree this has been quite entertaining and I'm glad we both got through it without any name calling or invective. Glad to know we can disagree so deeply and be civil.

Well, I think a lot of your landsmen and their French neighbors did do that, giving us the Franco-Prussian War, and others. So, who were the terrorists in that war, the French or the Germans? And as Part German I could be like you and support the German nationalist groups who want the return of traditionally German regions, such as Alsace, Ostpreussen, Pommerania, and Lothingren that were invaded and taken by foreign powers. However I don't not only because such group are violent in nature but also because the inhabitants of those areas largely have no wish to annexed or returned to Germany, despite any traditional claim the Germans might have to them.

Well if we are going to blame a group currently for what their predecessors did, then the Irish have plenty of blood on their hand for the constant raiding and slaving which they perpetuated along the Welsh, English and Scottish coasts for centuries after the Roman withdraw until the English invasion.
