Great, I am planning to rework my old CX100s that I haven't used for ages and this video will be a great help. Actually I was thinking about buying some newer, possibly better drivers for the CX100, but I couldn't find anything suitable. The CX100 two 4" drivers aren't actually identical.

Good evening, thanks for your comment. You're correct, the upper woofer/midrange is somewhat other as the little woofer beneath. One has a little hole in the magnet, the other not. Also the original used glue on the cone of the upper midrange/woofer is some more wide spread. What the original crossover does I actually don’t know. But this is a well-known speaker, so the information should be on the internet. If you want the details and can’t find them please give a sign, I then will ask someone who has more detailed information about this B&O speakers. Most people use the foam version surround, because original these C30, C40, C75, CX75 and CX100 also only where produced with foam surrounds. (We have special made surrounds for these speakers to.). Best regards, Fred

@@audiofriends254 Seems the foam used in the original speakers decays quite fast. I got these speakers for home testing while working at B&O ages ago and purchased them for cheap as part of an employee program. I packaged them down in storage for 2 decades and they look like new...except the foam surrounds. These aluminum enclosures are awesome and would be perfect as PC speakers with a subwoofer added, perhaps using miniDSP 2x4 HD to drive the EQ & cross-over.

Good afternoon, Good that you could purchase the speakers at an affordable price through the company where you worked. I myself worked in a hi-fi shop almost 20 years ago. There, too, I was able to buy a lot with a discount, and I also bought a lot there. This makes it an affordable hobby :-). I have a pair of B&O CX100, but I need to still need to refoam some drivers of it. Of course you know the B&O BeoVox Cona passive subwoofer. But I’ll guess that a nowadays active subwoofer may do the job better. These little speakers remain very nice, and with lasting value :-). Best regards, Fred

Just purchased my first Beovox CX50’s, just wondering why people re-foam these when they’re from the 80’s rather than replacing the whole driver with a modern replacement? Thanks

- I used around 50 cotton buds. I recommend you have 100 at hand so you don't get caught short! - At time 8'14" (8 minutes, 14 seconds) of the video, just before the part "Check if the cone is well centered", I let the glue dry for 24 hours. I think this is necessary. In the mean time, the glue was washed off the paintbrush with water and the paintbrush was left to dry for these same 24 hours. Make sure the paintbrush is bone dry before using it again! - Starting at time 11'40" up to the end of the video (rolling cotton buds to push the foam surround onto the speaker basket), I used cotton buds slightly dampened in water. I did this because unwetted cotton buds would pick up the glue being squeezed out, and then stick onto the foam surround. With damp cotton buds, this was not a problem. - After the end of the video, I let the glue dry for a further 24 hours before mounting the loudspeakers onto the boxes. - Comment: The "SG6" speaker glue is an incredible compound indeed. It looks like wood glue when wet, but dries to an evo-stik® type gooey consistency. I have never seen anything like it.

Good morning, thanks for your reply and information. The glue is indeed not a PVA glue like wood glue etc. We did several tests on aluminium, plastic, paper, etc. with different kinds of glue. When I now want make our glue smooth, I mix a little alcohol / IPA with the water to use. More info of glue: www.repairyourspeakers.com/en/repair-videos/glue-brush-fluid/c-3. Best regards, Fred

Excellent video. I haven't seen a more comprehensive refoaming anywhere else on the internet. When glueing the foam to the cone at 7:50 how far in was the butter knife?
@audiofriends254
@audiofriends254 5 жыл бұрын
Good evening, First thanks for your response. In this case the butter knife was around approximately 8 - 10 mm under the cone. Please take note that if you have a cone which has more a curve in the cone instead of a rather flat cone, you will have to take care that the blade of the butter knife is flat. So if you then pull in the butter knife to deep under the cone, and use force on the cone, the curve of the cone will become pressed flat on the butter knife. And that is not what we want. Best regards, Fred

What is the blue solution you use and what cainr of glue
@audiofriends254
@audiofriends254 5 жыл бұрын
Good morning, First thanks for your reply. The blue liquid we use is methylated spirit. Pure alcohol is often better because it’s colourless, but expensive, and sometimes (in NL) hard to get. For the glue we use I made a PDF at the URL: www.repairyourspeakers.com/manuals/+English/glue.pdf. Best regards, Fred

Hi, what glue would you recommend? Super glue?
@audiofriends254
@audiofriends254 3 жыл бұрын
Good morning, thanks for your reply. Information about our glue can be found in English on: www.repairyourspeakers.com/en/video-manuals-for-repair/glue-brush-fluid/c-3. However, glue shipping out of Europe is a problem. This because The Netherlands in unfortunately a drugs country + customs = problems. See also: www.ad.nl/binnenland/drugshandel-per-post-bezorgt-nederland-slecht-imago-in-het-buitenland~a337413d/ In short in English (Google translate): The drugs from the Netherlands provide police officers, prosecutors, customs and foreign government agencies in Germany, France, Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the United States, Australia and many Asian countries, among others. Foreign colleagues report to Dutch investigating officers that they are "inundated" with drug packages from the Netherlands, says prosecutor Neeltje Keeris, who is charged with synthetic drugs at the National Prosecutor's Office. Alternative for our glue: www.repairyourspeakers.com/en/glue-brush-syringe/1-x-15ml-speakerglue-for-foam-rubber/a-1675-11. We added a time ago the following text at the offer: The glue is relatively expensive, because the shipping of the relatively heavy glue is extra expensive. KZbin often uses "Aleene's Tacky Glue", a PVA glue that is available almost everywhere in the world. It can be an alternative. Use entirely at your own risk. For more information about Aleene's Tacky Glue, visit: www.aleenes.com/glossary/tacky-glue Best regards, Fred
