Worldwide in fact - without strong leadership, strong enforcement, high reward and collaboration, any place will look and smell like a failed state. Sadly, Indians find work that is menial repugnant and leave it to a lower class that also hates it, so you don't have public weal in mind, just personal status. Gradually this will change as the caste system slowly loses its grip on the country.

My Bangalore wasn’t like this 2 decades ago, all the IT companies and increased emigrants from other cities (especially North Indians) has destroyed my lovely city. My forefathers used to say, that it was a divine city of the gods, there was greenery everywhere and lots of wildlife. I myself grew up in a remote farmhouse in east Bangalore in 1990 and my house was the only one in the 2km vicinity. There were lot of snakes, birds and several flowering and fruit trees. Please please send the residents from other states back to where they belong, please

@Keyrings Locks that's a great question. Funnily enough I had the same question until few months ago until someone reminded me about what we had learned in high school - Carbon Cycle. The reason we have historically high amount CO2 in the atmosphere is because we are pulling out fossil fuels which are part long term carbon cycle and converting that into CO2 i.e. adding it the short term carbon. Because there are not enough carbon sinks i.e. trees to absorb all the new CO2 being emitted, it leads to warming temperatures, ocean acidification, etc. In contrast, the organic waste to methane production that's being described in this video converts short term carbon from food waste i.e. plants/animals into CH4 then ultimately to CO2. So this cycle is in equilibrium. Hope this makes some sense
@SK-qj8sm
@SK-qj8sm 4 жыл бұрын
this is such a brilliant system, most of my residential neighbors around here segregate the organic waste, but the Municipality folks just dump it in one- which I don;t understand by- and then dumped somewhere else (I'm guessing). If not just people but the awareness reaches the govt employees who should have a tie up with these companies would be brilliant cause people are already doing it. There used to be a massive dumping site before nearby one of the complexes when I recently moved to South Bangalore, but its no longer there cause none's dumping there anymore, that made me very happy.

Exactly. I am tired of hearing people's mentality and attitude as an excuse! There are no garbage bins or proper waste disposal systems. It looks bad especially since you know this didn't start happening yesterday. But here in the US, I see a similar trend beginning. People are dumping couches, tires, broken appliances, and other household waste here and there usually along our less-used country roads. Yet our city has a bulky waste program that is free. Our hazardous waste recycling is also free. Random trash heaps are mostly located near homeless camps. Doing something about waste takes thought, effort, and deliberate action on a daily basis. I got a check from my city for buying a kitchen scrap compost bin. Once a month the city scrapes up tree trimmings right off our street, but we also have a grass clippings bin picked up weekly. Education is key in creating a mindset, but it also helps if local government makes waste removal services available and relatively convenient. "Free" services are more easily swallowed than a charge or tax for them.
