Serious answer: 1. Because India has systematically chosen student politics and representational politics(caste/religion/region) over mayoral politics. City politics becomes the place where you earn funds for the regional or national party's ambitions. So the person chosen by the parties isn't there to work. True for all parties including AAP. 2. The reason Indore is earning money is mostly through a fixed price biogas contract with the govt bus agency. Biogas is still a pollutant and many cities have opted for electric buses instead. Profits are not guaranteed. 3. Every city has its own unique economics. Thanks to the movie Nayak, most Indians think politics is all about socially conscious problem solving. It is more like a decision tree with several unintended consequences. Some other city may come up with a model where they incinerate all trash and sell the residues for recovery of heavy metals like the Japanese and Singaporeans do.

@@TheUndertaker2408 I was with IAC in a significant consultant role and know people from inside the party. If you think AAP is any different in its functioning and outcomes than a regional party, then you have never been in one of their high level meetings. 1. No party can function purely on electoral bonds, volunteers and public donations, even the BJP. Canvassing costs a huge chunk. Social media, psephology and ad strategy to keep newspapers/tv channels in line are added costs. We are talking of a shortfall of 50-100 crs per Delhi election and 500-2000 crs per state election. 2. Any party that wants to be in the game for a long time creates, depending on the size of state/economy, two or ten individuals/families that control companies and a network of people. These loyalists are in charge of fake businesses that get the corrupt money to fund the election machine. Even if you raised 100% of the money clean with a billionaire, there is no way you can achieve network effect and reach the electorate. People don't change their mind after watching a news report or a YT video, they ask a person in their social network. If there is no person to interpret things for them, you will not gain momentum as a party. 3. AAP is also doing these things. They already have "one leader" akin to RaGa and Modi, a central command and are building out a network of supporters and income sources. This is convergent evolution in action.

Even world’s cleanest city , Copenhagen has a landfill site. Probably Indore didn’t want you to show even the smaller landfill site as part of the documentary as it takes away from the good work they are doing but probably it triggered the reporters ego and she just focused on that part as the theme of this documentary.

I work at NEPRA, and I can vouch that we, along Indore municipal corporation are solving most of the problems. Not every system is perfect, the landfill here is the tiny fraction of the waste which is difficult to process. But the evident thing is that the city has been clean for 7 years because of 800 Metric Tons of waste being processed DAILY which directly translates to 3,00,000 MT of landfill saved every year.

This is a symptom of a deeper issue in the Indian psyche, we think our own people are only our immediate family members and our home to just extend to the perimeter of our residence, what a narrow mind view of the citizens of a civilization which teaches vasudev kutumbakam. From what i have seen through media, Indore is a model for all the cities in the country. We need more documentaries covering the Same. Love from Kerala ❤

You only have a question of sustainability. Indore has lead the way for all cities to show that they can clear a landfill and recycle all but 4% of the present garbage. Surely that should be a better thing to cover than the fact they didn't allow drone footage on the scientific landfill part. Maybe they are trying to improve that as well. In my opinion it's far better than seeing a waste mountain.

Two easy ways to Indore people made it the cleanest city: 1. People actually care and do their job 2. People don't forget the rule 1

Maybe Indoris should visit Chandigarh for once.

I have visited. Have you visited Indore ? The most sad part of Punjab ( except Chandigarh) to me was such a rich state, small state, big cars on roads, dance food language everything inspiring. But people lacking basic Ludhiana Jalandhar are just unbearable..so so dirty. The same people are in Chandigarh..those local markets in every sector you have the bins are filled with discarded stuff and dumped somewhere from where they are picked. There is no concept of big dust bins or dumps within city in Indore. It's picked right from the source and seggregated there and then only. Chandigarh is planned city so you find roads clean because pedestrian is not walking on road for cars and hence no litter. Challenge is when pedestrian cars and cows use the same road. That's what Indore has done. Changing the mindset of people living. I took a bus from Chandigarh bus stand to Dharmshala and beleive me cleanliness was not at all with standard of city like Chandigarh. I did not use the public toilet it was that bad. You can check for yourself if you ever come to Indore. You can point out veg Street food of Indore, poor railways, peculiar tone of speaking. Still manageable. But cleanliness..no bro..seen many cities. No people are so obsessed for that No 1 clean city tag.

Other cities wont be cleaner if people dont have that mindset. When I visited India, I was shocked how people just throw trash on the streets, while I would even hold my cigarette in my hand until I reach an ashtray of a café or a rubbish bin.

All new plastic products need to be made from 100% recycled materials. No new single use plastic products should be made. Recycle everything.

Are aap log positives pe focus karo na yaar. Ab aapki CURIOSITY PIQUE ho gayi toh chota sa probable negative point ho sakta ho usko main point maanke baith jaate ho aur uspe video end kara hai. Now the Nagar Nigam isn't bound to answer every single question of yours and when your camera was "FORCEFULLY SEIZED", AFTER you were warned that taking videos isn't allowed there, it was YOUR unintelligible decision to continue trying to get the drone footage. Then, when your camera was seized you say IT WAS FORCEFULLY SEIZED. I do not understand why JOURNALISTS act like they've been dealt with unfairly or act like HUMARE SAATH AISA KAR DIYA. Shaanti pasand nahi hoti Iske alawa poori report bohot badiya hai. You guys really should learn to balance the positive and the negatives better

The best part was when you tried to break the rules. I just love it when journalists do it. Keep it up. Don't let the authority get satisfied by what they have done so far, keep pushing them harder. That's what according to me is true journalism.

Quick question. Large rich cities have been unable to set up such programs because of cost. Who is funding this? Indore doesn't generate such tax income to fund such a program

How to make a documentary about minor journalistic hurdle, while covering the superior waste management system of a city. And end up doing the bad job at both of them. Well if you are looking for such documentaries you have arrived at the right place.

Litter is disgusting. Everything need to be recycled. Manufacturers need to use 100% recycled materials to make new products. There needs to be a market for recycled materials so they can go back into production.
