We had to re-upload due to copyright strike blocking the original. This is why we sometimes don't include clips, even a few seconds of music means we get ZERO money from views (which is why we rely on, and love our patreon supporters. Sometimes the video is blocked entirely which is what happened here.

It would be on mine as well, along with Vektor, MGLA (who they didn't seem to like as much....I like Misphyrming but MGLA is quite a bit better IMO, Zhrine is the better Icelandic BM band). Power Trip deserves their spot IMO. I even think Behemoth deserves to be mentioned even if it isn't my top 10. I was just surprised it was #1. ....as a huge Tool fan from the beginning, FI doesn't deserve the spot I don't think. Its good, maybe great, but too much hype or anticipation and there is just too many great records that earned it and made bold statements. If you really want to make bold statements with BM, how about Deathspell Omega - Paracletus? That isn't 2nd wave sounding at all. And also way better than Misphyrming (and I like them).

Enslaved's "Axioma Ethica Odini" came out September 2010, and for the first half of the decade, was probably my most listened to album. Their album RIITIIR came out in 2012, and 5 of the 8 songs are fantastic. I think I'd put it in my top 10 too. In 2011 they released an EP "The Sleeping Gods", and it has three songs that I must have listed to a thousand times on various runs (Heimvegen, Disintegrator, Striker). @Sidharth Subramanian Dave and Dan are such a flawless duo, their individual styles complement each other very nicely. You can tell Dan is a prog death nerd at heart with Artificial Brain and you can see clear as day from the first album that Dave was influenced by the 80s thrash and death metal scene. They have covered some of the best old school artists like Slayer, Exhorder, and even Death. They nailed them out of the park. I could praise this band til the cows come home.

No Ne Obliviscaris (Portal of I or Citadel) or Enslaved is a little shame. Two Polish bands in top10 (even top3) is nice I'm not gonna lie. Personally I don't find top1 to be as good as their reputation but hey, that's taste. Also about the vocals - M. from Mgła is doing similar thing I feel like. If someone likes Mgła then check Kriegsmachine - it is the same people pretty much and two latest albums were superb IMO.

Man, the drums on apocalypticists... I wish they'd play it live. Residual blight is almost a re-invention of dum n bass. And then the drums get crazier over the fest of the album. M is a bit like Adam Jones in that he uses quite a limited set of colours in his pallette, but uses it incredibly well to go places you don't expect, but dksd really creates an incredible precision engine to push that forward

For me, its no surprise that "The Satanist" is number one. It just is a fucking great album. And I think as years go on, it will be on of those great albums that will live on and truly really will be one of the most great albums like Reign in blood, The BLack album etc etc.... That album is just pure perfection. Only album that I miss from this list is Rotting Christs "Rituals". As for me, that album also is and will be one of the iconic Metal albums ever, like those you guys mentioned and it belongs to the same place as those albums I mentioned.... Those too, Satanist and Rituals, will be forever one of the greates extreme metal albums. And yes, At the Gates is the one I also missed from this list.

This is why I like Banger TV. It's audience and style is so diverse from my own, I get a good feel for what others like, but it also makes me feel out of touch with what the cool kids listen to. I literally heard thousands and thousands of Metal albums released in that decade (I track it on iTunes) and I only heard five of the Top 15. :( Although, the numbers say there were over 70,000 (yes, 70,000 not a typo) full-length studio albums released that decade so it is not surprising that most people only heard a small percentage of that. Even if you heard say...7000 albums over the decade that still only 10% of the total output, so yeah... these top lists, while really fun and cool are almost becoming useless because there is so much material. Lots more to discover I guess! Good job!
@VomitRottenn
@VomitRottenn 4 жыл бұрын
The quest of discovering good bands is never ending now that we are well into the internet age now. We are able to find very obscure and typically inaccessible stuff to most with the tap of a finger, so it's totally understandable to have a lot going under our radars when we actively try not to allow it regardless. I can say from experience that using Bandcamp has been pivotal in my discoveries, I have 900+ albums in my wishlist and I buy an album or two every month. They all span every nook and cranny of subgenres and it feels like an encyclopedia of quality new metal, and there's no excuse to miss anything because labels send notifications the moment an album gets announced! It's seriously amazing.

Great commentary on a list that is worlds away from my own favorites. I must be the only person who thought The Satanist was the beginning of the end for Behemoth; it was like they were finally finished building their big new house of death metal and were proud to show it off, and I preferred the albums they made when they were still building the house and you could hear them figuring it out as they went. I was really surprised by Gojira's The Gift of Guilt, the main riff had this 2012 brostep kinda vibe with the huge pitch bends and harmonics, but it sounds so awesome, and the shifting drum patterns make that much more complex and rewarding to listen to! awesome stuff! It's also quite surprising that there was no Djent at all in the top 10, cuz that sound seems to have redefined metal in the last decade!
