I love this man and his work! Herman gets most of the guitar playing attention when it comes to DF, but theres no argument that Sam is the genius behind their sound. Thank you Sam for your music!

seems a lot of people here are butt hurt/envious of this guys talent. sam seems really cool about it tho, he's just a guy who loves metal and wanted to put his own twist on it like any genuine artist would, play music they wish existed. and if you don't like it you can fuck, right off, some of us love dragonforce! you can't do that it's too fast, the solos are too long, waaah! that's what they said about every so and so great pioneering, trailblazing band. dragonforce could've tried to please you, but then they wouldn't be dragonforce, they'd be just another mediocre power metal band, already were hundreds of them out there when dragonforce got started.

Personally as a fan of the power metal genre I had high hopes once Dragonforce broke big in the US around 2006 that more of the really great power metal bands such as Gamma Ray, Helloween, Stratovarius, Blind Guardian and Primal Fear would get more label support and promotion to show the rest of America what great power metal is. However that was not the case. Personally I have always felt Dragonforce is probably the most limiting of all the power metal bands because almost all of their songs are between 180 and 210 bpm with a fast trot beat and very little to offer beyond that. They play well but little is left for the listener. The other power metal bands offer so much more and I think it is a shame the US never truly embraced power metal on a bigger scale.
@LemonLime367 жыл бұрын
SO FUCKING AGREE! I will say, that yes, I've listened to Dragonforce since 2003 when they came out with Valley of the Damned, I was there before Guitar Hero put TTFAF in their game, and I was there when they changed singers and all that. But, my thing is, that when people think of Power-Metal, the first thing they say is: "What's that?" And you explain it to them, and they'll say: "OH! Like Dragonforce?" Dragonforce is not the only fucking Power-Metal band on the planet. I loooooove Dragonforce, they're my favorite band. But, bands like Stratovarius and Rhapsody are such amazing Power-Metal bands. I really just feel like people are missing out on what Power-Metal has to fully offer. And I always encourage people to listen to other Power-Metal BESIDE Dragonforce.

"If you want to hear the album go listen to the album!" is what I feel like I'd be told, hahaha I'm sorry I had to. They have gotten so much better and I do appreciate that HE appreciates backing vocals live. It IS important. And I'll always appreciate the more they improve live.

Lol the low key roast at the beginning: Dragonforce has such complicated and incredible music, so when I met its writer and creater I was disapoitned when didn't find someone more smart and well spoken but instead I found THIS idiot. LOL jk I know that's not what it said (quite) but it did feel that way a bit, knowing Sam.

The bit about Manowar, "just one guy singing, where is all the power?".. well, Eric Adams has more power in his littlefinger than any Dragonforce song. Speed and Power is NOT the same, Totman, I've enjoyed some Dragonforce tunes since their debut, but they will not reach Manowar to their ancles in terms of power and quality in my ears. - Hail and Kill
@sensacionsombria51257 жыл бұрын
WindRider he wasnt saying the band is not good or powerful, he was saying that the big chorus wasn't there. I also think like he does, when you hace multiple voices on studio you need to have those voices on stage.
@windrider61247 жыл бұрын
tomazo tomazo fair enough, though I have seen Manowar lots of times live and they are great on stage, and I haven't heard any lack of power. Some time ago they were the loudest band out there and they do not need a bunch of samples and layers live to get the power across. I get what Sam is saying, he obviously likes it pompous and over the top on every level, but Manowar don't have to compensate for anything when it comes to their music. I really was into Dragonforce back in the day, when they released their demo and was called Dragonheart, but they have become a bit boring to me over the years. I still enjoy the songs from time to time, but it's often a lack of substance in my opinion. Sorry for this "heavy" response, i'm done now. Stay metal!

WindRider i know haha, he is just talkig about the backing vocals. he also said he is a great fan of them
