The regular 250-000 tool post that Banggood sells locks by turning the handle clockwise and the wedge pulls down to lock. This is the way we are all accustomed to. The FX250-000 tool post that John received locks by turning the handle counter clockwise and the wedges are oriented so they lock on the upstroke. Amazon also sells the “FX” counter clockwise lock version that John has, so I assume John’s isn’t a fluke. I wonder if this “FX” tool post is for a special application? I prefer my standard version for two reasons. First the handle swings away from the work, and second the downward locking of the wedge pulls the tool holder down to its set height when locking. The “FX” version pushes the tool holder up and away from the set height position when locking.

You could, possibly, dismantle it and invert the wedges.using the one from the opposite corner.

I got this tool post from Banngoods thinking it would be the 250-000 version based on what the web pages said. But I got the FX 250-000 version. It would be nice if Banngoods and machifit can explain and correct this confusion.

The tool post looks well made, great improvement. I've used the same small lathe tools they work great when taking lighter cuts is all you need.

I'm not keen on the overhang of the handle but that looks like a solid tool post. I'm using an RDG post on my ML7 But I've found there's a very slight bit of movement in it, not noticeable for most operations but parting off tougher materials it does give a bit of chatter. But I'm knocking up a rear mounted tool post for parting off so that should make things better.

Great review on this toolpost. I have a similar one on my small Chester DB7, but had to make a 1/4" thick washer to place it on. Works brilliant though

I agree with your opinion about the piston tool posts, I have one and would have preferred a wedge type but the lathe came with it. It would have been replaced if I hadn't been saving the hobby budget for other types of tooling and machines, lol!

Friend of mine loves bangood. I have yet to use them. Just be careful and read the description . They tend to lead you in with the “better” product listed and then a cheaper version when you click on and you need to pick the “better” option. Recently came across a thermal Imager they show the imager at a low price until you click on it . Then it magically turns into a thermal thermometer and you need to pick the imager for much more $$$

Alright! this guy better be right about this 80' diamond thing" ha ha ya the aloris bullhorn deal with L-R in one tool woa Joe Pieazinski ? showed one of those . If you wear any tool holder out Be' that one, face's to your belly button OD turns end to end. Why not like a bike skewer clamp on the post angle, lock I've been thinking about it along time. like a through hole handle nut assembly put the 10 mm rod flip it down unlock. a bench grinder tool rest I'm making is getting the same. Trying to figure out how to make that clamp more universal. so as to not have to hunt for a wrench. love your show real nice work getting better all the time

John, thanks for the link. Unbelievable price for this QC toolpost kit. I just looked at My Machine Shop here in the U.S.A. and they want almost $200.00 for the exact same unit with a couple accessories. I purchased one and it almost makes me angry I did. Reason? the CCP and the Whuflu. It does look like a decent set up and I will have to come up with a mounting stud and plate similar to what you did previously. Thanks again.
