I used to stay Soi 11 when in Bangkok, Soi 8 these days , centrally located , and like the more chilled vibe you get when returning after being out and about, it’s like a return to sanity:)

funny how our tastes change as the years go by. My favorite redlight area used to be Cowboy back in 2007-09-ish, then I got into the soi 11 scene and RCA. Then I was a Thermae regular if I wasn't hanging around the soi Rang Nam/Victory monument area (Pullman Hotel et-al). Did a few stints off the reservation at the Thai clubs on Sutthisan. Started hanging out closer to home on soi 22 (Queens Park Plaza et-al) then got into Nana exclusively from around 2012-15. Haven't been a regular BKK visitor these last few years. Never was a fan of Pat Pong nor Patts! Great video mate, missed all the little sidewalk bars and memories :) cheers!!!

7:30 When the company I worked for messed up my hotel reservation, starting a day later than needed, I trekked out on foot from Soi 11 to find somewhere cheap to crash. I stayed in this little hotel.

6:15 short ride from Phloen Chit to Asiatique Riverfront estimated 10km away is only about 100 THB when you use Grabmotorcycle with Tuk Tuk. 25% of that is GRAB's Co. commission. So, you know anything above 100 THB is a ripped off.

Awww yeah!!! Perfect way to end the work week with a Bkk 112 video! I usually stay at a hotel between the Nana and Asok BTS stations, and I have used that Micky D's at Robinsons for many a late night/early morning booze mop run. Nothing better that a double cheeser and fries to sort out the evening. Plus underneath the Micky D's is a grocery store that has an awesome selection of items if you can't find what you're looking for at the 7-11's or are looking for food souvenirs. Thanks for all your hard work Bkk 112 and let me know when I can buy you a beer again! Hope the holidays are treating you and yours well and Happy New Year!

Truly I am a noob I spent six days in Bangkok although two of them I was jet-lagged pretty bad, and even both times I stayed in Sukumvitt, I never went to soy cowboy. Not sure how I missed that and I'm going to have to rectify it soon.

Unless you don't wanna sleep till 4am in the morning. Or you love to get drunk and wake up in the middle out of nowhere. Try something near On Nut station like Qiu Hotel or something. Less than US$70 per night near the mini pool.

31:28 Those security gates they have at all the MRT entrances are a joke. Every person that goes through sets it off 100% red and everyone including the attendant ignores it. Occasionally they will ask to have a look in your bag and just shine a torch into the top. This will not even slow down any "terrorists" or people with bad intentions. The only time I ever got checked was when the guard noticed I had some packaged durian in my shopping bag and did not want to let me in. It was pissing down with rain and I only wanted to use the MRT to diagonally cross the road at Huai Khwang to my condo. I had no intention of going on a train with durian. I politely argued with him for about 2 minutes and then ignored him, walking through the station. In the meantime another person with a bag walked through the Ding Machine and the guard had to check her bag too. I smiled to myself when I saw him torn between stopping me and looking into the next bag.

Glad to hear you say The Beer Garden on Soi 7 is still there. There was a great food court and a pool table bar on the right jus before The Beer Garden. Not sure if still there anymore. I was picked up in The Beer Garden more than once by agressive Thai women and i was forced to put out. Beware

It's not there anymore. That and the shops round the corner are all gone. The land was vacant and boarded up. Don't know why they knocked it down and nothing is being built yet. This was of months ago when I was there. Maybe someone can comment with more upto date information

The ATMs in Thailand still use the magnetic strip, so the ones out in the open could potentially have been tampered with by criminals. Every now and then a story comes out of an Eastern European guy getting busted for ATM crime. Best to use the cash machines inside banks or at least where there is extra security such as shopping malls or the ones shown in this vid. Hope this helps! :)

That is one of the dangers of growing old in Bangkok if you have no "family". You can develop a mental disorder or become an alcoholic and nobody will take care of you. You are on your own. Never burn your bridges back to your home country.
