why do Thai fly B777s to LHR? It is their most important route, so you would think they would use their newest metal (A350).

Good question. The only explanation I can think of is capacity. The B777s offer 30 or more seats as compared to their A350s even though the A350s are more advanced in terms of the product. So two ways you have close to 60 odd seats that the A350 can’t offer.
