Thank you William - I agree with you that Puccini would have been overjoyed that Nessun Dorma could be sung and sung well by sopranos even though it is written for Tenors - Amira does a magnificent job here which leaves one with goosebumps..in Jan 2019 I arranged for Amira to sing at Radio 702 in Johannesburg, South Africa to expose her to a new english speaking audience - the video of that is also on KZbin - one of the songs she chose to perform was Nessun Dorma which ended up with Amira singing about a third of it acapella as she literally blew the stations systems - some of my friends and family were right inside the Studio for Nessun Dorma and having it belted right in front of you with Amira about 2 metres away is a magical experience...

William, LOVE your Amira evaluations, she is superb, and I thought so the first second I heard her on HGT which, given I'm a Brit living in FL, USA - was sort of a surprise to find! Her magnificent talent was instantly recognizable, and I've been sending her music to friends ever since, from 9 - 19 and she just keeps getting better. She is magic. I sent the download segment in Spanish from her performance as an 11-year-old you shared. It is so exciting to watch her and so see how she handles different songs. This is my Sunday treat. Wonderful reaction William--as always. I so enjoy you enjoying Amira. She is a treasure. and she won you over. I agree with you on that. When I think of Nessun Dorma, I Hear Amira, not Pavarotti. When I think of the Sound of Music, I hear Amira--not Julie Andrews. to me, she "owns" every song she sings. Might I suggest you go back to Amira at age 9 when she sings Nessun Dorma in Holland's Got Talent. Yes--at age 9. She sang Nessun Dorma until she was 14-15. Now her voice might not fit the Aria. Here is a compilation of her Vincero during the years. Think her School concert at 14 is the most impressive . I'm sorry but she is way too young to be tackling this aria which was written for a man yes she has a pleasant sounding voice but opera is more than just singing its interpreting the character and the story. Voice is nice but to light for this Aria.

@@BangkokVoiceCoach me neither even for a concert or recital i guess its the Pavarotti effect who helped popularize and bring to the mainstream this particular aria, as an opera fan myself i consider this blasphemy it would be like like casting a female to play prince Calaf in pucini's Turandot from which this aria comes from to say it would be a miscast is a gross understatement i compare this to hollywood casting females to play male parts from past beloved franchises in the movies.

She does not sing the role, you have to go to the opera house listening to the role. FYI Deanne Durbin sang this tune already 1943, so a female bursting the tune out is no news.

Very true John. Miss Durbin sang the aria in a movie. Often when I listen to the Amira arrangements I think of that golden age of Hollywood. Sweeping strings, harps and heavenly choirs.
