She was walking around town with her father and boyfriend. It started raining and so they went inside the church where her dad plays the organ. If you look closely at the windows in the background you can see the rain on the windows.

William, thoroughly enjoyed your comments and analysis of this performance by Amira. Amira singing without a microphone really does emphasize her perfect pitch and clarity of her voice. Amira seems to have been born with the ability to understand and connect with the song in a way that really touches the heart of her audience. Their are several veterans groups in the US that successfully use Amiras' music as therapy for veterans suffering from PTSD. You will often read comments under her performance on you tube from people who are suffering from physical or psychological pain that have been helped by listening to that pure and beautiful voice. I have often wondered what it is about that wonderful highly recognizable voice that has the ability to somehow soothe ones soul like that. Thanks again for your meaningful, in depth analysis and concise remarks. Best on you tube by far.

I'm glad I found you! You excellently put into words all that my limited musical knowledge cannot verbalize regarding Amira and her singing. I've watched her since she won the HGT competition. She has always stood out to me as an extraordinarily gifted artist, but I couldn't for the longest time figure out why she does. In recent years there have been so many talented young singers that we have seen and heard. But Amira has something much more that they don't have. As Simon Cowell said early on, "She's the total package." You've so beautifully unpacked this package beyond what I can say. My layman's language has always said, "With Amira, it is always the song, not her dress, not her beautiful face and personality. It has always been the song." Thank you.

I knew you'd like that when I heard your comments about the unplugged nature of her Ave Maria Gomez. I like your perceptive comments about Amira 's qualities too, it's hard to verbalise them all, particularly for someone with poor musical knowledge, such as I. She is certainly well grounded, which is thanks to the sound support of her family, and her strong faith. I hope that going through musical college, as is planned, doesn't constrain her talent, to fit a tradition, but rather let's it expand on its own magical path.

Ya indeed, Andrew. Music colleges can be rather negative environments. There’s a lot of politics and a great deal of mediocre teaching. I think she’s too talented for that path. She just needs a great mentor. Dame Janet Baker never went to music college!!!

She already been taking classes in Drama and Acting and musical college could be a great place for that. But for her vocal teaching BVC is right, a great mentor is what she need, vocal teacher at colleges in general are not on the same level as Amira is and cannot contribute but rather ruin. The key is where she can find a great vocal mentor in SA and how can she finance it..

Finding the right mentor is the most critical part, as for financing it, I don't have a lot of money but would happily contribute $ 10 or maybe even a little more per month, especially if it meant we would continue to get a video or two per month like this one. Pieces she is preparing as part of her work with her mentor. I think she could easily find 4 or 500 other fans who would support her, maybe even more. She could set up a patreon account to collect it and offer early access to her music prior to public release as a benefit or some such thing.

This is what she posted on Instagram 3 weeks ago: "A lot of people have asked me what I will study next year. I will be studying Bmus music and psychology. Then in my 3rd and 4th year of my music study I will specialise in musicology. After 4 years I will have my degree and then I can do my masters in music therapy because I will have taken psychology for 3 years in combination with music. During this study I will still be performing and sharing my talent. I will probably study somewhere close to Cape Town."

Ive just perused each comment & agree with every one of them, whether it be praising you as a reactor or Amira’s undeniable perfect pitch,Angelic voice. Kudos to all Amira supporters /fans, for It’s obvious we’re all on the same page as to what we wish for in respect to her future. William, I’ve mentioned previously that her performance of ‘’ When You Wish Upon a Star ‘’ , where the tempo is super slow, her breath control is simply unbelievable. Please put this one on your growing list of Amira’s performances, as it is a masterpiece in how to sing this rather difficult song. Some may think this is an easy song to sing, but it is very rangy & you need perfect pitch. Then, with the slow, slow tempo, it becomes extremely challenging. Cheers Graeme

She was an accomplished middle-distant runner as a child, while living in the Netherlands. So she did have better breath conditioning than the average child. There are videos of her running competively. She references this in her HGT audition performance post-interview.

I agree, Gary. Amira really has faulty technique. She does not have good breath support, and her vibrato is very wide in spots and wobbly, which is very concerning. If these issues are not corrected, her voice will continue to degrade. She sounded much better back in 2017 when she was much younger than she does now. It’s unfortunate, because she basically has a beautiful instrument, but she uses it incorrectly. She needs a coach who will teach her the fundamentals of correct classical singing technique.

Nah, Amira must stay Amira. There are more then enough political correct singing opera (classical) singers , from who many sound exactly the same. Amira is backed up by a excellent singing coach. Beside these facts, Amira is taking her time, she,s studying at the music University in Pretoria right now. And still her voice becomes more beautiful by the day. Amira,s singing is all about feeling and that,s what music is all about.
