The comment about the 2018 role of the High Court is incorrect. It was Sheikh Hasina who whimsically revoked the quota arrangement in the face of student protests then. The High Court reinstated the quota system recently leading to the current protests. The quota arrangement provides for 56% reservation for different groups (- including 30% for the descendents of the country'sfreedom fighters) - leaving just 44% to be based on merit!
