Old Dhaka is a chaotic place and also a very important part of the city for trading and transportation. As part of the experience and also the need to cross to another side of the river, I had to go for a boat ride. I am guessing the price was only 20 Taka, but I understood 200 Taka, and in the end, I gave him a little extra - 1000 Taka. What do you think about these dirty waters, and would you go for a ride?

brother, you of course over paid him big time, reserve boat took you to other side, 200 is logical , and 100 tip can be ok, however, now he will spread the story of getting 1000 from a Foreigner and next tourists will end up paying more, hahahah. Anyway, I hope you are enjoying your stay in Bangladesh and thanks for visiting

Brother, welcome to Dhaka, Bangladesh. I would suggest, its better if you can arrange one local guide while you are travelling through old Dhaka sites. Nowadays, though old Dhaka is a new attraction to the western tourists, but due to language barrier you can not get the real flavors of old Dhaka. Specially for Biriyani or any food item, old Dhaka offers most renowned Moglai foods, specially biriyani and kebabs. But just with out proper guidance its difficult to find them. And one thing, if possible other than Dhaka and Chittagong do travel to the rural Bangladesh, there you will find the real taste of Bangladesh (with one guide if possible) Best of Luck.

That area looks quite dirty Davud! If I had a choice I would not have taken that boat ride in smelly & murky waters. You had your lunch late but unfortunately the biryani and drink was not nice. No offence to Bangladeshi people. I'm sure they have nicer tasting food elsewhere. It just wasn't your day Davud. Thanks for sharing your experience here. I really enjoy following your steps, reaching all the narrow alleys, meeting different people and diverse tastes of food. In my opinion, it is impossible to compare the countries you have visited, because each place has its own beauty. I liked the video about Bangladesh more than the video about the hotel in Nepal with the beautiful room and meals, designed by a chef plus a number of people who wanted so much to serve you whatever you wanted. In Bangladesh, even though the water is polluted, we saw the pulse of everyday life, what the people eat , how they behave with a lot of patience and willingness to help despite the language difficulties. I see posts from other bloggers, you Davud bring us the reality as if we are in it with all - the good, the bad and the ugly - of our world. Many thanks and good luck.

Message for bangladeshis. No issue with dirty river guys. People should keep asking govt to clean up the river. We had similar condition with ganga earlier because of all industrial waste released into water and namami gange has cleaned the river to the extent that it is pleasant now to go in river. Its 70% cleaner now. Drive the change. Bangladesh is richer than india now and govt will have appetite to spend to clean rivers. Its not people throwing plastics etc that makes the rivers dirty to the level it becomes unlivable but its industrial waste that makes it. People keeping it dirty needs cultural change that will take lot of time but industrial clean up is most important.

It is drank with heavy foods biryani and meat items for good digestion. Not everyone likes it as it is little bit spicy and sour in taste. The area where you ate is not that good for biryani, please visit other places and cities in Bangladesh and I hope you will have a good experience.

Imran khan from 🇧🇩 is very good person. So sorry to say, I can never imagine myself in that boat safari where dead animals are thrown and the city looks so polluted bcz of that dirty water. But Bangali people are so good from their heart ❤️.. Love from Nepal 🇳🇵.
