Tried cooking this and I love it! I can make this every day and won't get bored. Ingredients: - 1/2 cup split red lentils / masoor dal - 1/4 cup moong dal - 1/4 cup toor dal (arhar, split pigeon peas) - 1/2 tsp salt - 1/4 tsp turmeric - 1/2 tsp cooking oil (to the pan) + 2tbsp cooking oil (to the wok) - 1tsp cumin seeds - 1 small chopped onion - 2 dry red chilies - 1 1/2 tsp chopped garlic - 1 1/2 tsp chopped ginger - 1tsp red chili powder (kashmiri) - 1tsp coriander powder - 1/2 tsp turmeric powder - 1 chopped tomato - 2 chopped green chili - 1/2 tsp salt - 1/2 tsp dried fenugreek (kasuri methi) - 1tbsp butter (added at the end) - 2tbsp chopped coriander - 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder (at the end) - Warm ghee Instructions: 1. Add 1/2 cup split red lentils, 1/4 cup moong dal, and 1/4 cup toor dal to a bowl. Soak red lentils, moong dal, and toor dal for 20 minutes. 2. Into a pan, add the rinsed dals and add 4 cups of water and 1/2 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp turmeric, and mix. 3. Add 1/2 tsp of cooking oil, bring to a boil. Then add 2 small bay leaves. 4. Cook until soft in 20 minutes, low simmer. 5. Into a separate wok, add 2tbsp of cooking oil. After it’s hot, add 1tsp of cumin seeds. Saute. 6. Add 1 small chopped onion, saute, and then add 2 dry red chilies, split beforehand. Sautee together. 7. Add 1 1/2 tsp of chopped garlic and 1 1/2 tsp of chopped ginger, sautee until light brown. 8. Add 1 tsp red chili powder (kashmiri), 1tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder. Mix everything together until reddish color is achieved. Add a little bit of water, continue mixing. 9. Add 1 chopped tomato and 2 chopped green chili, and add 1/2 tsp salt to taste. Mix and saute for 2 minutes in medium-high heat. Occassionally add drops of water until it’s like sambal-like consistency. 10. Add 1/2 tsp dried fenugreek, mix. 11. While still mixing the wok, slowly add in the dals from the pan. Mix everything together. 12. Add 1/4 cup of water, or as needed. Mix together. Then add 1tbsp butter and 2tbsp chopped coriander. Mix everything together. 13. Add 1/2tsp of roasted cumin powder 14. Add boiled ghee, and then serve.

@@melodioushaste If she includes the ingredients in the description it saves many, everytime they want to try out the recipe. Btw, no one writes down things anymore!! That's the purpose of the digital space! Unless you have lot of free time in hand When seeing/referencing a recipe video, while cooking, havjng the list of ingredients in the description helps one gather all ingredients before starting cooking the dsh....rather than having to watch the whole video to know all ingredients needed, every single time you decide to try on the dish Don't forget this is a business for them...they make money making videos, it's not charity or generosity...so it's not s big ask....one person's effort will save time of many viewers....instead of every individual viewer writing down ingredients individually...that doesn't even make sense!! Dal should be comfort food, something to warm your body and feed your soul. It doesn’t have to be fancy or have lots of spices to do that. This simple dal is delicious, and it is also easily customized to suit personal tastes. If I’ve got potatoes to use up, I’ll add them. If I’m out of toor dal, I’ll use chana dal and adjust cooking times. This is a great recipe, thank you.

You can use anything. You don't need anyone's permission -- it's your food. How much? No idea. Try "some". Unless you go crazy, it'll be fine. If you added too much, add less next time. If you didn't add enough, add more next time.
