I always love how you show every woman is beautiful. You just need to compliment your body so that you look more like yourself and your natural beauty shines through instead of contradicting it and end up looking unbalanced. This is the sort of thing I talk about whenever people say they're so ugly. They're probably trying to look like someone else and not themselves. A good personality and pleasant demeanor also works wonders on people perceiving you as more beautiful too.

As a flamboyant natural, I already did a lot of these things instinctively! My hair colour is natural, my bangs are long and a little wispy, I let my hair air dry into waves and don't touch them much otherwise . However, I have a blunt bob and I do feel like it suits me better than layers. Maybe not appearance wise, but for my personality. When I first got the bob, I asked my hairdresser to straighten it, and that looked really alien on me. But I feel like the volume and the movement I have in my hair naturally are enough to balance the bluntness out.

What length is your bob?
@Rosenrot0eme5 жыл бұрын
@@cianap.281 I get it cut to about chin length, grow it out until it touches my shoulders and repeat. Every length has its pros: I like the exposed neck when it's very short, the classic look when it's grown a bit, and the extra curls when it gets longer :)

If following the test isn't working out, you can always try working backwards - eliminate the options you know it CAN'T be, then go to a big clothing store with a lot of different options, pick out items/outfits that really fit the stereotypes of the body types you haven't eliminated, try each item/outfit on separately, and try to get full-length photos of yourself in each one (or bring a friend along so you can get good full-length photos without struggling). Then see what the items/outfits that look best on you have in common, and match that up to a clothing recommendation from one of the body types and you'll have your answer (or something close to it). Another method to make it easier to type yourself is to separate the skeleton questions from the flesh questions on the test. Since most people are going to be a "blended" type (like soft classic, theatrical romantic, soft gamine, etc) as opposed to a "pure" type (like dramatic, natural, classic, etc), figuring out your skeleton and flesh separately might make things easier. In your case (based on your profile pic, assuming that's you), you have fairly large eyes for your overall face, your nose is broad and a bit fleshy, and your cheekbones aren't really visible under your flesh, so it's safe to conclude you have soft flesh. So the only thing that's left is to determine your skeleton type, and then you'll have your overall body type. I'd try to help with that part too if I could, but it's pretty much impossible without seeing the rest of you.

I have a question. I've been coloring my hair trying to find my perfect hair color. I'm a soft dramatic and I've had black hair, and it looked good with my body type but not with my skin (warm undertone). I looked washed out. Now I'm in a process of bleaching my hair and now I have kind of copper light brown/orange hair. I like it, but I would like to have golden hair (almost platinum) without any highlights, because Aly & Kibbe suggest so, and I feel like they're right. However, my hairdresser told me she would like to do highlights of blonde on my hair next time, but very suble ones. THE QUESTION IS: do you think subtle highlights like on Cameron Diaz on 10:05 (and I'm aware that is lighter than me) is a hair color that would work on a SD? Or is it too "natural"?
@roxemary5 жыл бұрын
If I were you I'd go without highlights and then, if you feel the hair is too flat, add them. It's easier than the other way around. Also depends on how much you trust your hair stylist with colors! The platinum might be too cool, hence the reason your stylist suggested the highlights (I guess). Check out Elle bangs' videos on hair colour, they are very helpful with undertones!
@cianap.2815 жыл бұрын
If you don't want highlights then don't get them, first and foremost. But if you opt in, SD's look good with larger highlights than Cameron Diaz's in that photo. Her frosted sections are tiny and the lowlights are very close in tone. Larger sections and a richer, more luxurious contrast between highlight and lowlight suits SD's better: i.pinimg.com/564x/2d/84/12/2d8412773f57dd0db9c202037a689b5f.jpg i.pinimg.com/564x/7e/6c/67/7e6c678b2464ed1063e674ea86b57feb.jpg i.pinimg.com/564x/d8/05/3c/d8053ced17d9cd56f9e163ddea109285.jpg

Classic styles are the most easily translatable to other body types because classic is a perfect blend of yin and yang. Wherever you fall along the body type spectrum, some element of that will be reflected in classic style. So if you also look good in gamine styles, it's much more likely you're a gamine than a classic. A true classic would likely look off-balance or childish wearing gamine styles. Pre-post edit: stopped replying to you for a minute to click your profile image to try to get a better look at you, and discovered a bunch of videos! Just based on what I saw, you are *definitely* a gamine, no doubt in my mind.

I’m definitively a natural. And flamboyant, I think. In my own made up typology, I’ve always thought of myself as a ‘blonde Gypsy’ type. This all makes complete sense to me.. the one thing I’ve always known about myself is that I don’t suit overly tidy hair, or sharp cuts. I used to wish I could carry off a gamine look as I love it so much on others, but it always looks a bit butch on me; I’m too big boned to carry it off, even when I’m skinny. Now I know why, I can relax about it and stop trying to find a way to carry it off - it just ain’t gonna happen, :-). I’ve also always wondered why I don’t suit classic cuts clothes much, unless I mess up the whole look somehow, or make it look a little edgy. I love that you’re saying we need to take in the look of the whole body before knowing if a look really works. I’ve often noticed that if I look at my hairstyle in a small mirror it looks good with my face, but when I step back and see more of myself it no longer works. Thanks for helping me understand why that is. Your knowledge and way of presenting it is amazing by the way.. thanks so much!

I have recently cut it because it was extremely long and looked separated from me. It looked just too long. I would get compliments about my hair but not about my overall look. Now I have mid length hair and realise that the biggest problem lays in the thickness and the shapelessness. I now understand that I should make it look lighter and softer, but I am afraid to sacrifice my only good feature...

Seems like once it gets enough length and bluntness to hang as "floppy" or "swooshy" instead of "spiky," and "choppy," it naturally starts to get some "air in the hair" as Aly would say. i.pinimg.com/originals/48/f2/48/48f248165ba88d190885ecb8d124b452.jpg i.pinimg.com/564x/1e/7c/d5/1e7cd59d99972a324298dc00e25da7a5.jpg i.pinimg.com/564x/ed/2e/b7/ed2eb768267babf78c6d348e33dea597.jpg i.pinimg.com/564x/05/b9/b6/05b9b6d9d6a9fbb6a6b9b7180fa6bda6.jpg i.pinimg.com/564x/6d/08/d2/6d08d2e8bda0edbd6aa222a16a830eb8.jpg i.pinimg.com/564x/ad/ee/0b/adee0b682ff8eb24845e6e8810b8c8e8.jpg i.pinimg.com/564x/eb/c0/05/ebc00589d123b81d51081b08c6c17b07.jpg

i'm a soft natural. so what i understand is that we are womanly but not as much as romantics are yet more than other body types. but we look best in slightly undone hair style and romantics look better in done hair styles?
@diffsiuhgr45785 жыл бұрын
that’s it! Aly (or Kibbe himself, not sure) describes Soft Natural essence as "feminine undone" and I think that says it all! (I’m a SN too!)

Hi Aly I don’t like the shape of my face, it’s wider at my eye’s level, I have a big forehead and a narrow chin, not so proportionate. I sincerely cannot find an updo or some braids which can suite me. Would you make a video about hairstyles (not haircut ❤️) that could fit different face shapes? Thank you so very much. ❤️❤️
@Pr0fessorScience5 жыл бұрын
It's hard to tell from your comment whether your face is heart-shaped or diamond-shaped. Is your forehead the widest part, or eye level is the widest part?

@@frnstt well, trying to make your forehead or eye-level area look narrower without getting a haircut designed to do that would be pretty hard. You can pin pieces of hair to act as bangs, which can make the top half of the face seem smaller if they're the right shape and length. Can be tricky, though. If you're just looking for styles instead of cuts, it would be much easier to add more width around your jaw and chin to make them seem bigger, vs trying to make your forehead and eye-level seem smaller. Something like large curls or focused back-combing can add more volume in specific areas, so if you just do it right around and under your jawline and chin, that would make the area look wider. Truth is though, it can be very hard to style hair so it's flattering if it's not the right cut to begin with.

I have a problem. I am soft natural but I don't have enough hair to achieve volume, so I cut my hair in some gamine hairstyle. Can you help? How can I achieve soft natural with short hair? Btw, short hair looks great on my face but it clashes with my body. I have very feminine curves.

@Pr0fessorScience5 жыл бұрын
The easiest way to find the best option is to mix the kibbe recommendations with the "generic" face shape recommendations. So, for ex, if you have a heart-shaped face, look up which styles of bangs are recommended for heart-shaped faces, and then out of those pick the ones that would also suit your kibbe type.

Is Matilda Djerf a soft natural? Interested to know if her parted fringe would be a good one to go for... love these videos I doubt a fringe would suit me anyway but I love this girls style so want to get inspiration from that anyway 😊xxx

I kind of wish you would expand this series to slightly bigger women. I can't see myself in any of the women in any of these videos and felt that the video that was supposed to be for my body type didn't quite hit the nail on the head.
