I wonder if that's the same producer who planned the "let's shock Adam with the not-Baghdad battery" trick
@masterlinkace3 ай бұрын
Not only shocking to see this happen, but to see that they thought it was a good idea to show on the outtakes gives me really bad vibes about what those early years must have been like. That combined with them letting crew literally try out torture techniques on themselves is crazy. I hope they learned their lessons 😬
@johannesblank15523 ай бұрын
Yeah the producer acted like a douchebag. You can really tell from the difference in Christine's reactions how she feels regarding her coworkers, from "I want to do it for you" for Adam to "You're not paying me enough" for that pushy producer.

About "free energy". In the Netherlands someone had put up a circle of wire with a light bulb close to a transmit tower. You know, where you can hold a TL ligt in your hands and it will glow. The electric compagny sued him because they were thinking he was taking energy from their transmition power. He won the case by simply point out that the arced bridge accros a river takes lots more energy than his little line. (that was the bridge they should have taken in the move "a bridge to far")

Re: the penny on the train track myth at 47:17 - There's a stretch of train track in Hanoi, Vietnam with pubs/bars on either side. People often place bottle caps on the track for the passing trains to flatten into tokens/souvenirs like those penny machines. Those caps are much thicker than coins, yet they evidently don't derail the trains and end up like the coins used in the myth test.
@chasdart72983 ай бұрын
Bottle caps are thicker, but only because they are formed into a cap. With a little force they will go thin very easily. Coins are solid discs of metal. I still do not think that either would reliably de-rail a crane, but the coin would have a better chance.

Old magnetic strip credit cards can be wiped by a weaker magnet, it just has to be a freak occurrence. I have had it happen, and there are very few things that would explain it. Used it earlier in the day to take money from ATM, then i had a load-in where i carried a bunch of PA speakers upstairs with my credit card in my chest pocket, then went to ATM: did not work, even again. No superficial damage, and the only possible cause in that day was those PA speakers. The way those particular units were carried was holding them against your chest.
@alceees2 ай бұрын
Indeed. I used to work at a makerspace and this one time I put a few 6x3mm neodynium magnets in my pocket togheter with my access card to our lab and walk around like that for a few hours. Then I went out of the lab and couldnt get back in again, had to have a new card made.
@vink6163Ай бұрын
Yes it's not the strength of the magnets, it's that the magnetic field has to change. So a weak magnet just has to move about a bit more relative to the card in order to wipe it. A larger magnet doesn't have to move as much and can do so from further away. It's why bulk erasers use AC current to produce an oscillating magnetic field.

Hay fires occur when there is wet grass under dry grass. if packed very tight, it will start to ferment or something, starting to smoke, and then catch fire. Us kids always slept in the hay if we had any rain while taking in the hay. I have seen it smoke quite heavily so I grabbed it and burnt my hand. Just smalkl lump of moist hay under loads of dry hay pressing down. Sawdust needs spark, but very little

these early episodes have bad dynamic range to the picture and i think they probably were shot on vhs. vhs looks worse getting cloned and the tapes rewatched but if this was the original negative that was soon scanned it might not look that bad. revenge of the sith was shot on massive vhs tapes before being digitized. you can see that in the behind the scenes documentary.
