When I was young, I thought Adam was the enthusiastic mad scientist and maker in comparison to Jamie's quiet, moderating presence. Now that I'm a scientist and engineer, it's clear Jamie was the quiet mad scientist and inventor to Adam's enthusiastic but ultimately moderating presence.
@UnknowinglyDerpyАй бұрын
The thing about mythbusters that i love is that they never claimed to be scientists. Jamie, Adam and the B team really expanded my view on science outside of just lab coats and ancient pictures of inventors in a science book and pretty much gave me a whole new way to look at my world.

Yes! People complain about shoddy methodology or measurments or whatever they did wrong any given episode but the main takeaway is that it basically instilled scepticism, the scientific method and so much more in a fun, exciting way to children/teenagers. It's not until rewatching old episodes that I realized how big an impactthis show had on my outlook on the world. Also I remember I did a spudgun out of carton that you loaded with body spray gas probably based on one of theirs.

27:38 Don't ever climb into an old tank or fairly airtight space with no ventilation. There is likely no oxygen but toxic gasses. As the air just sits there, chemicals process like rust or paint gassing off, will use up all the oxygen. You will pass out and die. This happens on very large ships, where there are confined, unvented spaces crew need to get into. In 2017 three workers died of asphyxiation after inhaling chemicals that were used in preserving the wood in the ship. Happened in a port in Oman.

The thing with the cattle fence is. You don't wire them up like that. Only 1 wire goes to the fence. The other goes to Earth in the group. So there's a massive resistor between you and completing the full circuit. I touch electric fences in the field. As it's quicker than going to see if the box is On or Off. I wouldn't want to try holding both wires directly. That's going to hurt a lot more. ⚡💥😱

@the_mini_axe2817Ай бұрын
While neurotic is likely utterly the wrong term, I would not be surprised if Jamie is somewhere on the autistic spectrum. A bit like Adam's at the time undiagnosed ADHD, it would explain a decent number of his quirks shown and at his age is unlikely to be properly diagnosed when he was a kid. However, it is near impossible to truly diagnose off just edited TV, and could just be personal quirks from when and where he grew up or some other cause like OCD.
