I have Iived in a Benedictine monastery for 11 years as a Brother monk after entering at 45 years old. Sr. Briege Mckenna inspired me to spend 3 hours a day in front of the tabernacle/Blessed Sacrament, which is a devotion I began as a novice. I credit this time with Jesus as the reason I have maintained the fervor of my conversion. It is the cornerstone of my spiritual life without which I am certain I would open myself to worldliness and other matters of spiritual poverty. By the way, I LOVE your channel.

Years ago our television was on, we watched it infrequently because of the trash that is on. I was not watching but I heard the voice of a succession of women say "Are" switch to another woman who said "you" switch to another woman who said "ready" I looked at the tv, it switched to all 3 in their underwear who said in unison "Monday Night Football." I was shocked. It was definitely over 25 years ago. We have not had a television for years. We enjoy Friar Anthony and other great Catholic content that can be found on line. Father Corapi years ago said "If the things on tv today were broadcast in the 1950's, those people would have been thrown in jail." Too bad it's not the 1950's.

How do you mortify thoughts?

You don’t engage with them. If a bad thought comes into your mind you don’t sit and ponder on it, you reject it and move on. Same thing for thoughts that happen at the wrong time (like your imagination running freely during study etc).

Thank you James. I’ve put this into practice. I no longer indulge in thoughts that bring me low. It has helped me to lead a more dignified, disciplined and holy life. And also to identify habits of unnecessary thinking.
