To a degree you must be aware and take awareness of how society thinks of your views you and sees you and perceives you this is the way that you will be able to survive and be able to maneuver and outsmart the society of ignorance and duplicitous stupidity. Bigotry biases and all these other things have always existed in human history, however in modern times they have tribalization such a degree that now it's become factional. Is producing low frequency in people's mental, spiritual, and physical health.

@@worldafriculturalcommunity5872 I think the colorism is from colonialism, because the same colorism exists all across the world where people have been colonized. My God Ram, as per the scripture is described to be dark brown in complexion, that shows that our ancestors didn’t discriminate based on color. Casteism is due to colonialism and due to our own bigotry. Indians need to get over the caste system to encourage genetic mixture. Our constitution reflects progress but people still need to change. Both colorism and casteism belong in the trash bin of civilization.

And so you should. I’m of Sikh Punjabi Indian descent from London, but go back to India often. We have dalits (untouchables) working for us back in India and unfortunately they have it rough there, but things are slowly getting better for them, but due to the caste system it will probably take a few generations before its completely eradicated. Same for black foreigners who visit or study there. The problem is most don’t see black people too often and they have negative stereotypes based on movies and news reports snd then think all black people are like that.

Colorism is still a problem worldwide! My father was brown, but my mother was very fair and very attractive. When someone in my church would get arrested, the pastor would ask my mother to go down to the jail and plead for the release of the church member. It usually worked because my mother was so pretty. I received high grades, went to college, and became a doctor. Many said it was due to my mother, which I probably agreed. When I married a dark-skinned woman, I was criticized. Recently we celebrated our 50th anniversary, and I could not be happier. Still people ask me why I married such a dark-skinned woman! It's called LOVE!

A preference for light skin long predates colonialism or "oppression". Light skin indicated a higher caste determined by social standing. Even in Europe this happened. People who worked in the fields were tanned and identifiable as such whereas wealthier people were not exposed and had lighter skin. Just look at the far east. Light skin has long been desired by women in particular. I suspect the niqab and hijab are in part worn by women to reduce skin exposure to the sun. Japanese women , and others, wear sunhats and carry parasols to avoid exposure and skin darkening.

How did all mankind sprout from Africa if not colonizing, conquering, discovering. The truth is it’s the human condition. All people lie, cheat, steal, kill. In all races it is pride that leads to a fall. When we stop looking at our skin and start looking at character, then maybe we can see value in people not qualities in people. It would have been easier to cope with the outside pressure but I was also treated poorly by much of my family. I never miss an opportunity to tell all dark skinned babies that cross my path how beautiful they are and how smart I think they are. I grew up in the Caribbean and this was a common statement made about me in my presence. “ what a pretty little black girl.” The “black” part was always emphasized. The Caribbean is predominantly made up of black people, my parents are both dark skinned, my siblings are all dark skinned…… the only difference is that I was a few shades darker than my other family members. Even my siblings made fun of me, and told me that I am black like the bottom of the pot or kettle. They did not know any better. This really bothered me for a really long time. Now I am 55 and I love my dark brown skin. I would not trade it for anything. Even when I was growing up, all the prestigious jobs were given to fairer skinned people. Today many people ask me if I am Sri Lankan, Panamanian, or Ethiopian. No, I am from the Caribbean, my dad is Caribbean black, my mom is 3rd generation Indian.

There is no such thing as an African-American, you are a dark-skinned American. I'm white, born in Africa and living in Europe, what am I? All human beings are of African descent. Discrimination based on skin color occurs in all societies, even among so-called white people. The white woman with blue eyes is the most valued, because she is rarer. If you are a black woman with blue eyes, you will also be more valued. In China, light-skinned women are more desired. The same thing also happens in Africa. But is a white woman with blue eyes more beautiful than a black woman? Maybe yes, maybe not. When I look at a woman, I look for certain physical characteristics that I often find in black, Asian, Indian and European women.

They brought their genes for light skin and since tben theres been heirachy. The Europeans also derive their colorlir.from the same central Asian migrations 3000 years ago. They colonised India and made the ancient colourism even worse. But it was already there like in North Africa, latin America, South Africa. Yeah, keep in mind that India was Eastern Ethiopia. The Aryan conquest poisoned their minds. Most Indians were basically Australian Aboriginal, Negrito, and a few other African tribes prior to the Aryan invasion. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I'm Moroccan and brown but born and raised in a small town in Germany and was actually treated very well, but Indians and Arabs tend to be racist in general as you have stated. One day brown and black skin will stand out for the beauty it has. It's happening!

“Aryan invasion” is a myth started by the British because they couldn’t believe non-white people had architecture, literature and philosophy all of their own. Recent genetic studies have also debunked it.

My younger sister is the darkest in our family, nothing is worse than being a dark skinned in a north indian family. I see make up tutorials of black women to see what's best for that particular shade when i have to purchase make up products for her.thank you black women for all the make up tutorials you put. Only thing is good is my sister is not conscious about her skin color and focuses on her career.

I was raised around white people from a young child. At recess many of them would tell me just the opposite. They said that they hated their white skin and wished that they had brown skin like mine. Now in America there are spray tans, tanning beds, lip fillers etc. People of color are very beautiful.. I could never understand why certain ethnic groups bleach their skin.. that’s insane in my view. You are beautiful and never forget it.
