I can totally relate to you bud. My body is in constant pain all day everyday, for forty plus years now lol. No exaggeration either. Takes a special kind of pain like that burning, stinging neck pain, to even grab my attention now lol. My pain threshold is pretty high. What most people consider a pain level of four, is my one, my pain level four is similar to a normal persons eight lol. But hey, thats living with fibromyalgia. We learn to make do with the pain in our bodies eh. And for me, Banished is my brain numbing, and helps me forget about the pains I am in too. Loving Jareds playthrough, He is very responsive to his viewers as well. So thats awesome.

I love Banished too. so much so, neither of my computers would load it up anymore. So had to go and get another computer, roflol. Now I am happily enjoying playing with Megamod 9.0 And hopefully will be building a channel that will feature Banished on it. But for I think of Banished, as the Granddaddy, of the Survive or Die City Builders, cuzz if you don't balance your food, you very suddenly find yourself dead, and starting over lol.

Hmmm good question. The game progression would be pretty similar no matter what mod pack your using, so you could definitely use my progression track, and some of my technics as a guide. However, as a new player I would definitely suggesting starting with vanilla, or one of the smaller mod packs ( Colonial Charter or Red ketchup).

As an old Player, watching a modded game, is very different style of play, than how you would start a new game in a no mod. In a no modded game. I would never put houses inside a forestry node. I would build the node, to skim the available storage barn. I would build a school first, then I would build the forestry node, with the road running straight to the storage barn. Then I would put my houses on the Radius, and Place my market but pause it, so it's radius encompasses the houses I am going to build. I would build one house, instead of three right away. And only after the school, and forestry node is built, usually autumn get the house built before winter. And play with the rest as homeless until I have enough house. First year, I need the forestry node one house, and then can build the woodcutter shack, the blacksmith and the tailor beside the pause marketplace. Then placing and pausing houses near their industries. So the forestry node, needs five houses, and the blacksmith and tailor needs one, and the woodcutter and school needs one. By year five, all of the houses and buildings mentioned, should be built, and now you think about farms. lol. very different than a modded gamepack. As there are endless great options for food building.

Just curious, I used to play this mod years ago and loved it. Can you still use your tallow to make candles for early game money? It was my go to trade item for animals and seeds and such once I found the butcher stalls and extra resources.

Started to get back into banished after a long time away, quick question though, does megamod 8.1 have unlimited mines and quarries? one thing I remember that bugged me was the mines running out and to top it off leaving big patches on the map I couldn't reuse.

Yes you can. They're are upgradable mines for multiple resources. Its in the colonial charter pack if memory serves.

no, there are not unlimited mines. there are upgradeable mines. to use an unlimited mine mod. Add it in After the Mega Mod pack, 1,2,3 is first on the list I think. Then the mines won't run out. I may have it backwards, cuzz I don't use the mines in my Megamod. I use the Renewable Resources. They "farm" The Dense Trees, The Iron, or the Iron ore, your preference, and the Coal, Stones as well. Those never run out, and take up land space similar to a tiny gathering post would take up a radius area. As for how much they can produce. I usually only have to up the production on them from 2 to 4 when I have about 300 people or so. Then I am good to around 900 people, without needing to build other stone, or iron, or logging options. Same for the Coal. But megamod9.0 is what I am using now, and it has a moveable mine?? Not sure what its called exactly. Looks like a regular old school mine, but sits on flat land, has very limited amount of workers, I think five maybe, not sure. I built it, and it is supplying my coal for my blacksmiths, about 85 coal a year. You have to place mines for tin and copper still. And the Placer Mines for the gold and silver, with occaisional gems. lol. And while the first two are upgradeable, with candles, and lamp oil. They will eventually run out, and leave a dead space on your map. Like the old school quarry, and mines did.

@@boneys2679 Megamod will conflict with any and all mods. On account of Megamod is interacting with the Banished game codes, and all the items are in the red. It isn't a conflict. It is a warning for interaction. Sometimes, a mod may break a game. And discovering those are difficult.

Personally I'd suggest either playing vanilla, or one of the smaller mod packs, such as red ketchup or Colonial Charter, first. The huge amount of stuff to rummage through in mega mod as a newbie would be super difficult.

@@hargssgrah4738 Easy mode, in Banished, is hard to get going on. First you start with finished houses, six of them. Then those houses have immediate needs, food and firewood. And you will starve without attending to one or the other. Freezing is as bad as starving. So, Easy mode, for me is the hardest start to Banished. To really get going in the game. Start on Medium Difficulty. 5 Families of four. And no houses prebuilt. with 1200 Food. You only NEED One house finished before winter, Start with the Mild Climate, and work up to the harder harsher climates as well. It is easier to build on a large valleys Map as well. To get the best start to your Game, look for a starting position, that has the barn near an area that you can build your first forestry node. So, you want to build it by placing the Gatherer Hut First, Use the Radius colour to skim the Barn, and place it so the road lands between the stockpile and the barn. That will give you great access to both the stockpile and the Barn, for the Forester and the Hunter. Once you have the Gatherer placed, put the Forester across from the Gatherer, and a road straight to the barn, add in a 2 x 10 stockpile anywhere alongside the straight road. Cap off the Node with your Hunter make a :T" Junction and dead end your road at the Hunting Lodge. Forestry Node Complete. Now run a road across the base of your node, use the Storage barns green tiles as your guide. Here is the road you want to build, Along this new road. Place and Build One House. I prefer Stone houses, as they use a lot less firewood. And firewood is your ideal trade good. So use the stone houses. Wood if you don't have enough stone to build this first house before winter hits. Once all those buildings are complete. Site your Marketplace. Markets have a Radius, so you want to be sure it includes All of your housing. Markets do not need to enclose The Forestry Node, Just the houses you are building to supply the Forestery Node. Make sense?? Anyway, Site the Market, and Pause it. Then Pin it. This way the radius will remain up and you can continue to plan your other builds. I like to build my tailor blacksmith and woodcutters and schools beside my Markets. Why?? Because I let my Vendors do all the walking for supplies like logs, and firewood, or iron, and leather. Once those are all set up, and running. be sure to place houses beside or across from each business, One house for two business. So a Blacksmith and Tailor can share one house, same for the Woodcutter and School. You will add in more housing later, but right now, it is all about getting to year five. After the businesses are built. Use one worker to cycle through the jobs of woodcutter, blacksmith and tailor, as soon as they run out of materials, or hit their limits, shut off the blacksmith, and make that person work as a woodcutter, and repeat.. Once you hit around year ten or so, you won't be micro managing your people anymore. This set up, should have you building the market around year seven because your first Barn is filled up. So you will need more barns now. Instead of building a new Barn, build the Market, and the Vendor will empty the Barn for you. Then you want to place Barns beside the blacksmith and tailors businesses, beside your farms if you have any built yet. And poof, you have about 10k worth of food, overproducing food is the way to beat this game.

I forgot, the MM8.01 has a tool called the Debug and it can give you any resource, and food, at a click. So if you just want to relax, get a handle on the game, and no fear of dying off. The DeBug can help you out a lot. While you are learning how to balance your needs, vs the production of food, and other resources, like wood, stone, iron, tools, and clothes. The Debug will make all those worries go away. So, yes, the Megamod can help ya learn the ropes of the game.

@@wonderwizard4935 Don't worry, I figured it out. I had the toolbar size scaled at 75, which I assumed was 75% and therefore the smallest possible size. It's actually the other way around. Dialing it up to 80 made the toolbars small enough to fit the screen regardless of the building category open at the time. It only ever happened with one or two menus to begin with.

@@ComputerGarageLLC I'll definilty go take a look lol. What about the mod isn't working? It has most of the mods you need included, so it much be conflicting with other enabled mods that are trying to double up? It also was highlighted as red for me in the mod list but still worked.

@@prio6872The apiary is already in the mega mod, plus its in the base game I believe? The base game on is under food in the shining rock collection. You can also use bee huts I found under raw food gathering (top left) in the mega mod food bar.

Do yourself a favour watching Pinstar Cross roads build, it's 6 years old but easily the best build logic. You build is hard to watch only because Pinstar the master Banish builder has his series uploaded. the latest mods have developed loads. If you redo a start again with logic let me know as I will watch.....this is anguishing to watch

Thanks for the tip Stuart! I have indeed watched Pinstars cross roads build, and I use many of those long used techniques that he shows. However, you can't just do the same cookie cutting build every time. Part of the fun of this game is playing around with build and build order. Sorry for the anguish I've caused lol

I don't get how ya'll can play the MegaMod, it gives my game such fps drops even at the start of a map that I can't stand it. Maybe my i5 8600k and 1070 is too weak...

Its does turn into a beast pretty quick. I've running with a ryzen 7, but one i've had it run pretty smoothly on my i5 on my laptop. On trick I like is to use the cc no smoke mod. helps a bit

@@110890nick www.blackliquid.com for megamod 9.0 but it is in Beta testing still .and is play at your own risk lol. So far, I been playing, and no serious bugs. And the bugs I thought I found, either cleared on a reload of the game, or I just did it all wrong to begin with.

I don't know whether mods change a game's mechanics, but if they don't, then your start is the dumbest start that I've ever seen in a game. The forest lodge needs to be separate from everything else, and especially from the hunting cabin (which needs to be isolated because the wild animals don't roam in populated areas... in this game anyway). Really bad planning...
