Just added strings to my banjo following Banjo Ben's instructions. The task was accomplished without problems. Yesterday, I broke two strings using others instruction. Bens is simple. Thanks Banjo Ben

This is the best banjo stringing method I've found so far - also better than the one Deering Banjo shows on their website. I've always had a much harder time restringing my banjo than my guitar because the strings are so much lighter. This method makes working with the banjo strings go much more smoothly. Thanks!

Just watched this and learned how to do it the way pro guitar techs do it as you taught it. Learning new banjo stuff every time with your vids after 59 years of playing. Thanks. Owner of Twanger#15. Once it broke in it became my daily player. Amazing.

Howdy! Yes, one pack of new strings will have all the different strings/gauges. However, there are different "sets" of gauges. You can buy super lights, lights, or mediums. I prefer mediums, but I suggest you try both lights and mediums and see which ones you like best and which ones sound best on your particular banjo. Thanks!

Sure! Check out the Deering Good Time series of banjos...make sure it's a 5 string bluegrass banjo, and it would be best to buy the Good Time 2 if you can afford it...it has a tone ring in it and will provide much more volume and tone. Hope that helps!

to keep your spot on the bridge you can use masking tape and outline the bridge as well and them you can take all the strings off at once and do a good ole cleaning at the same time without having to worry about resetting the bridge I've done this many times like I said on my mando and never had any trouble hope it helps

That was a quick reply. Thanks. I'm a guitarist and I got a request to play a banjo part in a musical, I got the banjo borrowed but I was wondering if I could put some guitar strings in case I didn't find the propper ones. Searching for advice about the instrument I found your videos, and let me tell you, not only they are great but actually got me really interested to buy a banjo myself and put some time into it. Any advice on brands/prices for a mid range banjo? Thank you.

Sure! I guess you can...it's just that you'll need loop ends instead of ball ends.

If there are no banjo strings available and I'm in a hurry, can I put guitar strings of the same gauges you mentioned? Thanks

Ben that looks like an RB3 Wreath rather than an RB250. Is that a phosphor bronze D string in that set? If it is do you like them better than a stainless string?

This is very helpful for a novice! You mentioned each string being a different gauge, does one pack of new strings come with different gauged strings? Thanks for clarifying!

I have a tension tuner for my 5th string tuning peg. Do I have to put the string in a different way?

ghs strings are the best strings I've ever used. Jim Mills uses them, but like him, I like the lighter gauge strings. Hey, that's just my opinion.

I finf the most aggravating part is keeping the metal strings on the hooks on the end piece. The manufacturer's loops snap off and there is so much spring in the metal string that they pop off.
