You're an excellent teacher, sir! I bought a banjo today. I never held one before, but the other day I decided to learn banjo. People said Im too old to begin and my answer to them is why I only have a couple friends. Your slow but clear approach allows me to pause, practice, watch and repeat, already has me playing these short rolls without a mistake. Because of your method I know WAY more than I did AND I am also more talented, than I was this morning. Thumbs up and Thank you!

Noone's ever too old to learn an instrument, it may just get harder the older you are but that basically means everything new you master is an even greater accomplishment.

This is interesting even for someone who just likes to listen to bluegrass music - something I've only gotten into in the past year or so. Definitely will help tune my ear to what I am listening. Would love to learn the banjo one day if I could find one cheap, but probably would drive my wife nuts and I gotta keep her happy.

Buy one for her too, and say, "Let's share the learning, I'm sure you'll be better than me!"

@@snics769 Don't laugh - both the wife and I bought banjos a week apart, around 3 years ago. Haven't made much progress but it has opened a new appreciation for the instrument and its music styles.

I've fallen in love with the banjo. Hearing those rolls and where it like doubles back gives me goosebumps. Just really looks like it requires more coordination than I have. For soemthin so stereotypically simple, it Looks pretty dern complicated

I think four note roll patterns mess a lot of folks up learning. It gets them in a lope sound when restarting the roll.

Yeah, just discovered this one. He seems like a pretty good teacher, although there are so many on KZbin. I'm a lifelong professional pianist that just got a new banjo for a gift. I need a new challenge:-)

kimber duckworth I bought a banjo a month and a half ago, and I've managed to get pretty fluent with it, just watching KZbin tutorials. I like this guy a lot, but one of the best banjo teachers on KZbin is 'williamanesbitt.' He takes apart all of the most famous banjo songs lick by lick, explaining them thoroughly, and providing tablatures.

@OtterLakeFlutes6 жыл бұрын
yes, I got a banjo for $50 at the thrift store & didn't think much of it until now believing, not to compare to expensive items, that for a broke guy like me I lucked up with decent Korean vintage no-name construction. I like the sort of Japanese sound to this one and since I like to tinker the alignment and truss adjustments seem to be yielding a playable, comfortable, lovely-sounding instrument for now. A little nicked up looking but not damaged meaningfully. I replaced the 5th or "drone" string missing key peg and am hopefully dialing in everything else tonight. Got new strings and finger picks :) !

What is the purpose of adding 3 spikes, offered by sellers Please?
@frederickwotherspoon607 жыл бұрын
The spikes are for changing the pitch of the 5th string when using a capo.

Very nice, you need a separate mic for the banjo and your voice. The banjo is all distorted. Look into the Rode lapel mics. They work great. If your camera is a mono camera you'll need a small, very small mixer - 2 in, one out.

Hi I notice you don't place your ring finger down on the head which I believe is the correct way to do it Not that it matters you sound good enough anyway I also can't seem to keep my ring finger in place next to my little finger I think it is because I first played a guitar using three fingers and the thumb Does it really matter

Why not use 4 picks instead of just 3? I’ve been using four picks on a guitar. Why not on a banjo?

Something about banjo players I have noticed: You all talk too much (no offense)! Personally, I need to see and hear to learn. I would much prefer a close up of the hand picking, and a few sentences about technique, but every banjo video I see is some guy talking for a long time and not much playing.
