I deposited 8 lakhs in my account through a post office bearer cheque, which was given to me by my father as gift. In my passbook this transaction should have shown as “Transfer through cheque” but instead of that the transaction is incorrectly showing as “By Cash Deposit” due to a mistake done by the Post Office. Will it violate section 269ST? Or, Will I face any penalty? & How I'll show this in ITR, since "officially" this transaction has been done by cash deposit? PLEASE REPLY SIR

Bearer cheque cheque are consider as cash only. I would recommend you to show it as your money instead of gift from father because 269ST doesn’t apply on self cash deposit.
