Bank Fishing Some Dam Bass

I planned on hitting the river in my kayak for the day but as I drove out there thunderstorms developed and were moving in my direction. Instead of turning around and heading for home I stopped at the dam for a few pre storm smallies.

Absolutely love your videos. You are super skilled and so chill. Beautiful places you have to fish. I mainly solo kayak fish on the Ga Coast. My wife got me the latest GoPro for Christmas, but have yet to get into recording my trips. I fish four or five days a month year around. You have yourself a great summer Brother.

By far my favourite way to fish smallies... bottom of a dam with a plopper. Pretty much every cast. Such a great fight in the current.

Interesting. I wouldn't think a topwater lure like a whopper plopper would work in water like that. Seems to me there is too much going on on the surface for the lure to attract fish. Guess I was wrong. You just got a new sub from me though. Nice videos.

Is a Whooper Plooper better for rivers? I'm assuming its like a buzz bait but always floats so the two treble hooks don't snag everything. I'm thinking they work just as good and last a lot longer than a wire buzz bait that will eventually bend a lot and be useless. I might switch to the plopper completely.

The dam I fish down here in Florida. It at the moment is impossible to fish at! They have it wide open and the water is just moving to fast. I go for catfish but not even a 8 oz sinker can hang.😟

Yeah the 90 is really all I throw, I think that one is the perfect size for smallmouth.

NDYakAngler been having success on the 110 and even the 130 if it’s super choppy. Shelved the 90’s but see you tearing it up on them, give them another go 💯👍🏼

I might. I’ll probably wait until I see one in person though. Honestly I think that 90 is about the perfect size for smallmouth. Even with that one sometimes the body likes to spin causing line twist so I could see that possibly being even more of a problem with a smaller size.
