I really enjoy all of your videos. I'm a mathematician and appreciate how you explain and use the scientific method to come up with your conclusions. Keep up the great work!

I’m glad you like my approach. I plan to keep at it for while to come.

Will you make videos about billiard games that non "pool players" could play? like cut throat? and other party type pool games? My wife likes to play with me but wants to play a game that isnt so dependent on running the table out

Good idea. I'll add it to my list of possible future video ideas.

Cutthroat!

There are some good cutthroat variations here: billiards.colostate.edu/faq/game/cut-throat/

@@DrDaveBilliards thanks dr Dave! I meant cut throat in my comment so thank you for this resource

I’ve been playing on and off for years, way before YT tutorials. And watching these, trying to figure our bank shots, I still have no idea how to do a bank shot. Tutorials set up the cue and object balls precisely. Which never happens in a game. Is there a tutorial on how to do bank shots on random placement of balls and angles.

Thanks Dr. Dave I missed your videos

VEOP has kept me busy for a while, but I’m back now.

So on the balls closer to the rail should I impart top spin by using draw? Somehow a full tip below center and see if the draw takes hold on the OB giving it top roll before it hits the first cushion? Does that help?
@DrDaveBilliards Жыл бұрын
You can’t transfer enough topspin to make much difference. It is better to just practice and learn how the angles change when the OB is closer to the rail.

What brand of table do you like/prefer?
@DrDaveBilliards Жыл бұрын
I honestly don’t have a preference. Diamonds are great, but it bugs me that they kick/bank long. I like my Olhaussen.

many variables involved in making any meaningful prediction in a bank shot. For me, it's more of a guess 😁
@DrDaveBilliards2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. There are many factors that need to be considered to be effective with kicks and banks, per the info and demos here: billiards.colostate.edu/faq/bank-kick/effects/

Although, many of the systems here can be very helpful: billiards.colostate.edu/faq/bank-kick/

ya, this video really wasn't of much help to be honest.
@DrDaveBilliards2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesdavis8731 It is a lot more help if you practice the shots as we demonstrate to see how close your table plays to the 45 degree tracks, and over what range, and to learn how to adjust for shot speed and OB distance from the rail (covered in VEOP).

I dont understand how you can know what 45 degrees is
@DrDaveBilliards11 ай бұрын
Place your cue over a corner and side pocket. That’s 45. Or place it through the 2nd diamond on the side rail and the 2nd diamond on the short rail. That’s 45 also.

Dr drave I actually and accidentally developed a system for this bank using the plus 2 system except I didn't test it out through when it off the rail that much..... My channel will soon be reactivated
@DrDaveBilliards2 жыл бұрын
The Plus System requires natural running spin. With banks, you can transfer enough spin to use the Plus System directly.

First of all, I want to see that ball drop in a pocket because if it’s not dropping, you’re hitting it too short
@DrDaveBilliards8 ай бұрын
Obviously, it is better to pocket the ball; but in one-pocket, sometimes getting the ball close with good CB control is just as good.
