Happy new year Dr. Dave, I came up to see the CSU campus and tried to find the location you play at. It's a good pool scene there and I am looking forward to going there. I was going to ask about actual pool teams as far as college teams and if they actually exist. I was told that it is a good way for sponsors to notice you and also move to a more professional level.
@DrDaveBilliards2 жыл бұрын
I don't know of any college pool teams. CSU certainly doesn't have one. The best way I know to get sponsor notice is to win big events or become a KZbin star.

A huge benefit to learn this ... Practice is key so it becomes familiar! :) Be Safe

Practice (not just playing) is key to everything in pool.

Adding a 2nd spot behind the 2nd diamond makes this easier. Find the spot you want the cue ball center to land/hit, mirror that exact spot to the other side of table. Now aim from that mirrored spot through the second diamond. Whatever is directly behind and inline with the second diamond and the mirrored spot is your 2nd spot. It could be a light switch, cup on a table, chair leg, etc. That 2nd spot is the aim point for the cue ball. This will work on all 3 rail kicks. Jennifer Barretta uses this system.

That's a form of the "spot on the wall" system: billiards.colostate.edu/faq/bank-kick/spot-on-wall/ Thank you for sharing.

Great content on this video Dr. Dave and crew. Would you have any 2 or 3 rail bank shots to the side pockets? Thank you
@DrDaveBilliards2 жыл бұрын
We don't directly, but both the "spot on the wall" and "bank track" approaches presented in detail on VEOP can be applied to these shots also.

Great stuff Dave - is there only one magic spot on each table (or four if counting symmetry)?
@DrDaveBilliards2 жыл бұрын
Four, but if the table is well built, all four should be in the same symmetric places.
@101UKWildcat2 жыл бұрын
Is the “magic spot” typically a certain length away from the rail (2 balls it looks like) or no defined length away?
@DrDaveBilliards2 жыл бұрын
It is a little different on every table, but it should be fairly close to what is shown in the video. Regardless, you need to find 2-3 shots that work and see where the three lines intersect.

Would have been great to see some tricks on easily finding the magic spot
@DrDaveBilliards5 ай бұрын
@@johnnyroc You just need to find the lines for the 3 shots shown (adjusting the angle for each until they work) and then find the intersection point of the 3 shot lines. It is similar to finding a spot on the wall, as demonstrated in these videos: billiards.colostate.edu/faq/bank-kick/spot-on-wall/

Hello sir, I want to ask a question about butt of a cue. What is the difference between expensive butt and the cheap one?, If the shaft we got the technology such as the low deflection which makes it expensive. what about the butt ? What makes it so expensive ? Is it only for visual purpose? Anyone who understands can please let me know. Thank you and sorry for my bad English😅
@DrDaveBilliards2 жыл бұрын
The butt has no effect on cue performance. It is just for looks, weight, grip, and length preference.
@DrDaveBilliards2 жыл бұрын
FYI, CB deflection depends only on the 5-8 inches of the shaft closest to the tip. See: billiards.colostate.edu/faq/squirt/endmass/

Very interesting but for the first time in years I am not sure how effective it will be... I guess because my country doesn't play one pocket
@DrDaveBilliards2 жыл бұрын
3-rail kicks come up in other games (8-ball, 9-ball, etc.) also to both pocket balls and play safes.
@briangc1972 Жыл бұрын
Interesting. Prior to playing 1 pocket, I always test the table by shooting 3 rails from the 2nd diamond to the opposite 2nd diamond. Then I can adjust from that reference shot for safeties in the games. Your magic spot principle is a good expansion of that pregame test. Here is a good 2 rail kick system : kzbin.info/www/bejne/hojCoYakj5Z1d80
@DrDaveBilliards Жыл бұрын
That's the "Plus System," which is covered in much more detail here: billiards.colostate.edu/faq/bank-kick/plus/ That is a useful system.

What? If it's a foul the opponent gets cue in hand!!!
@DrDaveBilliards Жыл бұрын
… not in the game of One Pocket. See: billiards.colostate.edu/faq/game/one-pocket/
@jasonreyes252 жыл бұрын
Sorry…I just now tried it on two different 9ft tournament table and it doesn’t work the way you got it marked with the top right/left spin. Got it to work hitting centerball from a corner pocket to the 1st diamond mark across the rail close to the side pocket. I also added about an inch futher from the first diamond
@DrDaveBilliards2 жыл бұрын
The magic spot is not in the same spot on every table. Like we show on VEOP, you need to find 2 or more symmetric shots and see where the lines intersect.
@jonchadwick1171 Жыл бұрын
If it's a foul your opponent gets cue in hand in 8 ball or you lose a ball in one pocket, or lose a point in straight pool. I wouldn't be none to happy!
@DrDaveBilliards Жыл бұрын
Sometime fouling in one-pocket is a good play (if it puts your opponent in a really tough place).
