It's quite simple why rates are climbing with rising imports and falling exports, the FED is obviously to be blamed for banking crisis. Something will eventually break if they keep the quantitative tightening and higher interest rates. Is this really a good time to have some savings in stocks?

The current bank crisis has me deeply concerned. If a major bank like SVB can experience difficulties, it's reasonable to worry about the impact on other financial institutions. I'm aware of someone I know who operates a rapidly expanding startup, and they were severely impacted by the bank run. Consequently, I withdrew over $340k from my own account, recognizing that FDIC coverage is limited to $250,000 and a potential collapse could have far-reaching consequences. At this point, I'm considering investing in the stock market. I'm wondering if anyone has advice on how I might proceed with this plan.

I believe SVB was making an effort to reorganize their bond portfolio. Yes, they would lose money if they sold their low-yielding bonds. But, they were trying to make up for it by repurchasing bonds on the open market at the higher interest rate.

@@huwhitecavebeast1972 The FOMC consists of all seven members of the board of governors and the twelve regional Federal Reserve Bank presidents, though only five bank presidents vote at a time-the president of the New York Fed and four others who rotate through one-year voting terms. Four of the Federal Reserve Bank presidents serve one-year terms on a rotating basis. The rotating seats are filled from the following four groups of banks, one bank president from each group: Boston, Philadelphia, and Richmond; Cleveland and Chicago; Atlanta, St. Louis, and Dallas; and Minneapolis, Kansas City, and San Francisco. The ongoing banking crisis is far from reaching a resolution. Those with more than a decade of experience understand that credit crises do not dissipate within a mere two weeks. It's amusing to witness some people believing that everything has already concluded so swiftly. We are currently witnessing a credit contraction that will inevitably result in a substantial overall contraction.

Over the years, I have learnt not to trust corporations. I was badly hit by the '08 financial crisis. Since 2019, I've just been focused on investing through a financial advisor and it has been paying off. No major loss has ever been recorded since 2019 i started. I'm never going back to banks full time.

I wholeheartedly concur. At 60 and newly retired, my external retirement funds total around One million two hundred fifty thousand dollars.. With no debt and minimal retirement fund allocation relative to my portfolio's value over the last three years, I recognize the importance of a financial advisor. Neglecting them isn't an option; however, thorough research is vital to find a trustworthy fiduciary advisor.

The system is failing as a result of both government and federal policy. In the next days, the banking crisis would have to be epic and gigantic for the FED to decide not to raise interest rates. This won't happen; an increase and a crash are coming. There will be more negative portfolios this 2nd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

Very true, you can be passively involved in the markts and still amass wealth-gains using an investment advisor. I first dabbled in stocks late 2019, just before the pandemic, and that same year gained over 150% with no prior investing experience, basically all I was doing was following directions of my advisor. We are working on a retirement ballpark of $3m and I’m certain my goal isn’t farfetched after subsequent investments and tremendous returns so far.

I have to correct George on the 2006-08 GFC issue. Problems started in '07 not '08 when WaMu was collapsing and got bought up by J.P. Morgan. That was when the MBS crisis started unraveling, but the GFC became the narrative in '08.

I don’t think we consciously think of it this way, but most people have shifted from an if to a when regarding collapse. Just 15 years ago most people didn’t think the system was doomed, but now it’s hard to find someone who thinks everything will be fine. At best you can find people who think collapse won’t happen for many decades and they will be gone anyway. The difference between analyses these days are on precise timing and the order of events, but all the big thinkers will tell you trouble is coming.

"Flipping a switch to stop Inflation...will create Deflation...and solve this problem..." The Deflation will crash values and the banks can re-possess and take everyones property, the very end game of Usery. Banks already own majority shares of all stocks, meaning the banks own all the businesses in the U.S. How did they do it? They printed the money.

Im not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, but money just doesn't disappear into thin air, someone or someones are getting Mega wealthy from these bank failures. Why aren't the banks and financial institutions being audited and why isn't the Fed doing something about it?

George’s prediction is correct but he has taken into consideration the support will continue, only because election at end of 2024. Manipulation will keep markets bullish until the election is over. This only delays the inevitable recession for 12 months approx. early 2025. then we have a European and USA recession, should be severe but with manipulation included we don’t know the severity.

I’m sorry but I think it happens sooner. The ramifications of the fastest interest rate hiking cycle will soon kick in.. The Fed will cut followed by the inevitable recession (which I believe we are already in) and stocks will tank.

I love when people ask questions directly answered in the video they’re asking about. 😋 17:28 And yes, the same applies for the US defaulting on it’s debt obligations or insurance. Make sure nothing exceeds $250,000 in a single institution and you’ll be fine. Or you’d be fooked either way. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Things are strange right now. The US dollar is becoming less valuable because of inflation, but it's getting stronger compared to other currencies and things like gold and property. People are turning to the dollar because they think it's safer. I'm worried about my retirement savings of about $420,000 losing value because of high inflation. Where else can we keep our money?

I work 20 years in banking. Banks are better prepared than before. I dont foresee a banking crisis..but other things might fall significantly such as tech stocks. Fed will always bail out the big banks. Customers may have to bail in some smaller banks.
