It's not just the insurance $ value of the structures, your policy usually also has on top of that a $ value for the contents of the house based on a percentage of the value of the house. Plus whatever high value items they may have with policy riders for stated values of those items. And I wonder how many apartment/ rental residents had renters insurance. If any of these people get money it's going to be pennies on the dollar. Can these "public servants" be sued civilly for malfeasance of job performance?
