Welcome back to our Sixth Series! For Episode 6 we will be taking you on a day trip to Banks Peninsula.
Our first stop on the New Zealand South Island Road Trip was Little River. Little River is a town on Banks Peninsula in the Canterbury region of New Zealand. It's around a 45 minute drive from Christchurch. It is on State Highway 75, which links Christchurch and Akaroa. Today the population of the area is approximately one thousand people, with people moving into the area seeking a more country / rural lifestyle.
Our second stop of the day trip was Okain's Bay. Okains Bay is a settlement, beach and bay on the Banks Peninsula. It is roughly 30 minutes from Akaroa and 95 minutes from Christchurch by car. There is a camp ground on the beach and there is a large cave to explore at one end.
Our third and final stop of the road trip was the beautiful Akaroa. Akaroa is s small seaside town and one of New Zealand’s most loved. It is famous for its French cuisine, gorgeous harbour and rare dolphins. We went into the Garden of Tane to get the perfect view of the harbour at sunset with the stunning mountain backdrop. We definitely recommend heading to Lovers Lookout for the best views.
