World-renowned graffiti artist Banksy unveiled new work in the war-ravaged Ukrainian town of Borodyanka, which was heavily damaged by fighting in the early days of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Several curious onlookers, some of whom made a 60 km drive from Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, came to see the artwork on Saturday.
Among the art was a painting of a gymnast doing a headstand on a pile of rubble and a child performing a karate move on an adult.
“This is such a historic moment for our country, that people like Banksy and other famous figures are coming here and showing the world what Russia has done to us,” 31-year-old Alina Mazur said, who came to appreciate the art.
Banksy appeared to confirm that he was behind the art when he posted images of the work on his Instagram page.
