Kevin O'Neill, without whom British comics wouldn't have creator credits.

Simon Bisley cites Kevin O'Neill as a massive influence on his work, And from this comic you can clearly see why. Love O'Neills work. Rest in peace.

Still surprised Marshal Law was sold to me as an 8 year old, but I'm glad it was. That initial run is one of my all-time favorite comics.

A real great Comic that too often gets overlooked when talking about the amazing stuff that came out in the late 80'ties. Pat Mills and Kevin O'Neil really had fun with this.

I bought this straight off the shelf when I saw it - I think I was in 6th or 7th grade in Brooklyn and HOLY CRAP did I not know what I had picked up. It was the kind of comic I felt I had to literally hide it under lots of other comic books so no one would find it! I was also exposed to Nemesis the Warlock at that point and MAN, I still think O’Neil is the sickest comic book artist. Ever. Period. Nothing looked like his drawing style.

best comic ever 👍 although the Martha Washington books are up there too. The Boys is entirely inspired by Marshal Law IMO, the Hero's Marshal Law ( and the other Hero Hunter's ) are rounding up were created by an evil corp then abandoned after their usefulness was expended. Sound familiar? Anyway, I'm not down on The Boys about it, but it's an obvious antecedent. He hunts Hero's, still hasn't found any.

Feel very lucky to have an original page on the wall at home - Dr Shocc testing the young Public Spirit. O’Neill’s colour work is as superb as his black and white: a sponged pink/blue base layer, inks and wash on top, then gorgeous spot highlights in solid pigment on 11 x 17 paper. The effort that went into this thing is astonishing, and only surpassed by Kingdom of the Blind, which has a tighter story and looser art. On influences - he was obvs influenced by US superhero comics, but it was the combination of these with (c17th satirical artist) Gilray and (1960s kids humour comic artist) Ken Reid that gave him his unique flavour. RIP Kev, RIP Ed. Power and love to you Jim.

I wonder if the Gangreen guy considering the different ammo he might use was a poke at Judge Dredd. Not sure if Dredd had been shown with different ammo at this time or not.

Just how many videos did these guys manage to record before Ed died anyways? I know it's not a hoax, but it *feels* like one just by the sheer magnitude of videos still coming out. You guys were certainly committed. RIP Ed.

Marshall Law is amazing. Kev O'Neill's art was rarely better. He could illustrate anything. He absolutely had several phases where his art changed and they were all great. I loved his painted stuff. Watercolours? The scripts were hilarious. I remember reading it in the short-lived TOXIC! comic (which suffered from too many dud strips) and gettnig the specials when they came out. Excellent video.
