Ok but the twist with Bukkit is genuinely evil. They used their fans' work without compensation--fans who thought they were doing work for their community with their community--and only revealed that when one of the previous Bukkit devs tried to shut the whole thing down. Rightfully so. Not because of the claim from Bro but because of Mojang's shady backrooms deal.

No, they were hired on as developers when they signed their contracts.They gave away their rights technically Mojing didn't own the Property property, which no one really looked into, but because each person owned a percent of it, they owned those 2 peoples per cent, which does mean that he couldn't take it down without their permission, which meant that his percent was lessen. There's rapid, they probably had the most percent. However, they're also dumb because, with non pay like freelance work like this. Technically? They wouldn't own an either way. Cause the code would still be owned by the developers. Cause no one sign contracts for a free development. And if it's ever caught 1 day. That mojang used any of the code from within there. We made many roleplay scenarios of rescues, infiltrations and even rpg stuff for the fun of it. This was my most played minecraft server and i miss it everyday. Sorry but you did get some of the Pixelmon information wrong. Pixelmon Reforged didn't come out first, it came out after two different Pixelmon mods merged and became Pixelmon Generations. For some reason people prefer Reforged over Generations based on the lies that Reforged likes to spew, BOTH versions of the new Pixelmon have developers from the original, Reforged just REALLY likes to start drama and spread misinformation. Generations has offered to merge with Reforged multiple times but Reforged continued to refuse. Reforged's drama and toxicity is why Cobblemon exists now, a dev from Reforged quit and made his own Pixelmon. Technically Generations itself as a mod isn't getting updated but now it is an addon to Cobblemon, Devs for it don't want to continue the drama that Reforged seems to enjoy. The biggest speculation is that the original Pixelmon never actually received a DMCA and that's why they are able to remake Pixelmon again without receiving another, unfortunately there is no real confirmation on this.

Generally speaking... I've said this before about modding. Any mod should be allowed to exist, so long as that mod isnt illegal or breaking a law of some kind. People shouldn't discuss any mod that's not fit for the ears of one younger, in a space where theres a reasonable suspicion that someone may not be an adult. If no one talked about the Jenny mod, it never would've been more mainstream. But people who saw it said "CONTENT" instead of leaving it the fuck alone. They used it as shock value for views, which in turn just exposed their younger audience to something they should've have never been. Mojang blamed the wrong people in my opinion... Is it weird as fuck? Yes. Is it hurting anyone? When its in the proper channels, no. Were the people responsible for spreading it, primarily content. creators? Yes. In my opinion, the blame fell mostly on the creators that were responsible... But also the parents for probably letting their kid have unsolicited access to the net.
@gnarled128Ай бұрын
Nah dude, the parents have no blame here. You might say "Oh b-b-but KZbin Kids!" when TheMisterEpic himself has made videos on the depraved stuff on that platform already. Also, even the best parents unfortunately can't protect their kids from everything, which is actually a good thing - growing up too sheltered by overly-controlling parents can be just as damaging as growing up overly neglected. It's entirely as you said - content creators milked it for shock value, and KZbin allowed it on their platform. Those are the two parties at fault for that whole fiasco.

It's kinda wild that Mojang can just outright ban mods. Like, it's a sandbox game where you're meant to be able to do whatever you want, and you have to ACTIVELY go searching for these mods to use them, so it's not like people are just going to stumble across them without themselves seeking it out. They allow all sorts of shady and scummy things to run rampant on servers to take money from Little Timmy, but heaven forbid someone wants to look at some jiggly cubes or something.
@GliYch25 күн бұрын
I don't really get how they even get away with it. As long as the jar files don't have copyrighted content, they're just that. Jar files with random lines of code. Not to mention that you need fabric/forge/whatever to make then run in the first place, which is also not owned by Mojang. So technically, the rule that you cannot sell mods for Minecraft is just- not valid, right? I mean, I could be wrong of course, but I don't see how they can enforce this, outside of course making you go poor through legal fees.
@ARDIZsq24 күн бұрын
@@GliYch I'm no lawyer, but to me it just seems like Mojang/Microsoft really just want full control over the game. If someone does something they personally don't like, they go after it. Like, the fact is that you need to find and download a mod loader, install it, find and download the mod, put it into the mods folder, then make sure you're playing the right version of the game. I dunno about most people, but even just that was too much for kid me. I think that if kids are finding and playing these mods, that's entirely on them for going out and looking for them. Mojang shouldn't be allowed to police someone's actions based on that of another.

Primarily, people that made hacks or distributed software that harmed server's in some way shape or form. There was a very high bar to getting blacklisted from the mod and it was almost never used minus a few cases. That being said, I believe the decision to add it was an mistake. Now adays, Pixelmon Reforged is safe to play without any of that code. Though I no longer pay close attention to that community.

I found his mod while looking for weird Minecraft mods for the funnies, and then got sucked down the SchnurriTV devlog rabbithole (which wasn't deep but interesting nonetheless). I was in awe by the guy's dedication and talent, even if it was for something that was very peculiar. I still have the mod on my PC, and plan on keeping it as a sort of Internet fossil of sorts. It was a really well-coded and well-animated mod. I hope he's doing good rn.

Microsoft owns Minecraft. It wouldn't look pretty if you knowingly allow a mod of, let's say, promoting a certain austrian man, or a mod about doing not very nice things to certain groups of people. Modders do not, cannot and will never own the code of games they mod for, this is by law, unless they make an entire new game, or somehow manage to buy the IP, they cannot do whatever they want with said IP. Game devs tend to turn a blind eye on mods so long as they don't do messed up things, and others, like Mojang, help out modders, so long as they follow (very inconsistent) guidelines. Modding is cool, but we aren't entitled to ti, nor should we force gamedevs to bend backwards to others. They own the code, they wrote the code, and they allow us to modify that code for silly little goofs.

EA is a shit company but even THEY don't try to interfere with mods for having inappropriate content. As long as the content involved doesn't break real-world laws. They really try to crack down on sims mods that allow you to make simulated CP and whatnot, but that's about it. In both the Maxi's era and the current EA era, sims mods with graphic violence, realistic sex, uncensored adult nudity, drugs, kidnapping, and sometimes even cannibalism were always left alone. Because they understand that it's not their place to decide an adult player's experience just because sometimes kids play the sims games. (Hell, EA made reference to the most popular nsfw sims 4 mod, wickedwhims, by naming an item from the laundry pack 'wicker whims'. Mojang could never.) Never thought i'd see the day when EA was better about something than Mojang.
@midnight4685Ай бұрын
jesus christ i hadn't even considered that people would mod that kind of illegal thing into the sims, and I've seen a lot of mods. That's depressing as hell. But yeah EA gets a win on this one. It is very cool that despite their absurd content pack pricing, modding is free. I do think that comparing the Sims 4 and Minecraft in age range is a little unfair, the Sims 4 is definitely a for a bit of an older audience in every way (more of a chill simulator than a potentially thrilling game like Minecraft, it already has Woohooing, boring adult jobs/life choices, etc.). Not that there aren't kids who play the Sims, but Minecraft's brand has definitely been 'for kids' in the last 8 years.

Though from what I remember, it was *Craftbukkit* , the *implementation* of the Bukkit API, that Wolfe was able to take down by DMCA'ing his contributions. You can see it in the list of URLs that rises up the screen. IIRC through a herculean effort Spigot was able to compensate for the loss of Wolfe's code, and with their new BuildTools distribution system, saved the entire Bukkit server scene. Back then I was mad at Wolfe for making it harder to run my server, but as an adult now it's 100% justified and I'd be mad if he hadn't. It doesn't fit as well with modern Minecraft's code as datapacks make the game more configurable (Particularly around things like paintings etc, which are dynamic now rather than a static list of painting variants). I have first hand info with the schnurri [][][] mod. I actually was one of the first to help with the project. When they posted the concept with Jenny belle and more characters of those creators like odyssey Ellie and Bia the bear. I supported him by donating 10$ to the mod in it's early stages and as a reward of sorts he added me as an Easter egg. Each gal could appear in different structurea around the map, each one with a theme for them, Jenny had a simple house on plains and oak forests, ody had a gothic looking mansion-ish house on spruce forests, and Bia had a Tiny house in birch forests, and that's where my Easter egg was included. There was a small chance that over the chest in the house would be an item frame holding a map, and said map had my Twitter PFP. A drawing made by another artist I commissioned. Between the things that happened with that mod, was the pressure of "fame" obtained due to tiktokers abusing the mod and giving it the jenny mod name (since Jenny belle is like the most recognizable R34 Minecraft character), to the point schnurri almost took their life off. Hopefully he was internated and was treated of their wounds. After that the even you mention of the government asking for the page contents and stuff is true. I think he lives on Germany or similar and he was always asked to show the contents to the government. Which apparently is a bit against NSFW stuff. So he "took down the page" by just being direct links to each instance of the mod plus any video showcasing updates. Until finally, the DMCA of Mojang happened. And he transfered all the mod content and code to a second user who as far as I know had taken a bit of another route with it. But keeping some of the key mechanics of the original, sadly, idk if things like the original characters or things like my Easter egg are still on it. Also, thanks for talking about it without shitting on the users. Plus clarifying that the schnurri and the "jenny mod" were the same one. Since another user who talked about that mod really was disrespectful with those who liked the mod.
