You forgot to mention that Matchbox Toys made similar Peewee Herman dolls at the same time as the Freddy Krueger dolls. Because of this, there were a couple Peewee dolls that had the Freddy voice box due to a mistake at the factory. As a result, there were PeeWee Herman dolls that said things like "I'm gonna' cut you in two!"

I guess parents got pretty chill later on since Aliens, Robocop, Predator, Demolition Man, Rambo and Terminator all got toys. Rambo and Robocop managed to sidestep the "Based on an R rated movie" stigma by actually releasing toys based on a cartoon targeted toward kids, rather than the movie itself. However I'm sure there was some backlash over the fact they made cartoons based on those movies in the first place.

Daltanious was never actually used in Voltron. I think the story goes that they intended to use him, but they used Golion instead. Also, my dad found Megatron in my dresser in gun mode and freaked out for a moment until he realized it was just Megatron... Lesson learned: store your Megatron in robot mode!

@Cmndr Roy Fokker a couple years ago they made a new gun toy megatron , his robot form looks almost spot on to the cartoon , but well his gun mode a little less so ,. that said his robot form doesn't have said odd bit down below. it always bugged me that the original megatron toy (which i did own ) looked nothing like his show counter part when in robot form. he looked so damn odd (big head , stubby arms big trigger section between his legs , proportions totally off from the cartoon megatron.
@DenverStarkey3 жыл бұрын
@Cmndr Roy Fokker not completely true ,. i lived it man , betwen me , my brother, and my cousin (he was like a third brother to us) we had nearly every transformer released from 84-88 even some of the hard to get mail in ones. while yes the toys did come first , quite a few of them did look like their tv show characters. Optimus prime , soundwave , bummble bee , grimlock, (every other dino bot) , shockwave, Star scream (mostly) just to name a few that did look very much like their show counter parts. then there were the ones that didn't megatron, ratchet, Iron hide, . but in general the ones that "looked nothing like" were much fewer than the ones that at least resembled the toons as much as possible.
@jaustill2373 жыл бұрын
Daltanious actually WAS used as Voltron. Before airing the series across the nation, it was initially screened in California. They dubbed the first 4 episodes of Golion, Dairugger, and Daltanious and aired them as Voltron: Defender of the Universe. Then, they based which Voltron would air first on the response they got (popularity). While neither Albegas nor Daltanious got full release as a Voltron series, they were both at one time or another planned to be used, prior to the poor reception of the Dairugger XV based second season.

G1 Megatron was not so much recalled as it was discontinued and kept off toy shelves to the sadly necessary toy gun safety laws. Al;so hasbro decided to drop a lot of the older characters/toys to make room for new stuff based on the new characters introduced in the 1986 Animated Transformers movie. Hence a lot of characters were killed off early in the film including Optimus Prime. Megatron sort of survived as he was reformatted into Galvatron, who's toy was inline with the new laws.

I received one of them and it fell to the bottom of the toy box and never saw the light of day again.

Speaking of Aliens, Disneyworld used to have a ride called "Extra Terror estrial" and the ride ended up being shut down because it was too scary.

@@EdsRetroGeekOut Yeah, it was later replaced with Stitch's Great escape, but now, even that has been closed.

I'd read that Roadblock was rare and expensive, but I didn't know it was due to a faulty weapon. Wow.

And the roadblock is exactly the same i do believe only the launcher sets it apart I tought 🤔

All I wanted as a young kid was a Battlestar Galactica Cylon Raider for Xmas. But my parents didn't think it was educational for me. But I showed them as an adult I bought one. 😀 Once again cool video my good Sir. Regards Rikki Dee
